Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

    £225.00

“Legend has it that Jason came back to get even, vowing to kill every teenager in the area. And every now and then, the murders just start up.”

One of the most memorable and controversial designs created for the “Friday the 13th” franchise, this striking advance poster depicts Jason Voorhees tearing through the celebrated “I ♥ NY” emblem. The bloodied hockey mask, brilliant white background and minimal composition create a wonderfully bold image that perfectly captures the film’s move from Crystal Lake to Manhattan.

It is said that New York tourism officials objected to the unauthorised use of the trademarked “I ♥ NY” logo. Paramount subsequently recalled the imagery and introduced replacement artwork, leaving comparatively few examples of this distinctive design in circulation.

Released in 1989, “Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan” follows a group of graduating students whose voyage to New York is interrupted by the seemingly indestructible killer. Kane Hodder returned as Jason, bringing a particularly physical and imposing presence to the eighth instalment of the long-running horror franchise.

A superb example, presented rolled in excellent condition. With its dramatic composition, fascinating production history and recalled status, this poster has tremendous visual impact and is a superb display piece for collectors of cult horror and rare cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: In the diner the man Jason throws into the mirror is Ken Kirzinger who would go on to play Jason in Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Kirzinger also doubles as Jason in a few brief shots in this film.
