A richly conceived alternative movie poster for “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”, created by celebrated Thai illustrator Ise Ananphada in 2021. The artist’s distinctive approach combines finely rendered portraiture, ornamental detail and an assured sense of composition, capturing the darker atmosphere and heightened drama of the acclaimed second chapter in the original Star Wars trilogy.
The intricate montage draws together the film’s celebrated characters, locations and imagery, reflecting a story that expands the conflict between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire while delivering one of cinema’s most famous revelations. Ananphada’s imaginative interpretation brings an elegant contemporary quality to this enduring science-fiction classic.
Individually hand-numbered #25/425, this limited-edition poster is presented rolled in superb condition. Its elaborate artwork, accomplished execution and restricted availability give it tremendous visual impact, making it a superb display piece for collectors of Star Wars, alternative movie posters and rare cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: In order to avoid sharing creative rights, George Lucas decided to avoid using a major studio to finance this movie. Instead, he bankrolled the $18 million production himself, using a combination of his profits from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and a bank loan. Although the move was risky, it paid off several times over. Lucas recovered his investment within three months of the movie’s release.
