Darker and more serious in tone and content than its predecessor. Bruce Wolfe’s beautifully rendered artwork certainly reinforces that trait for Steven Spielberg’s 1984 prequel / sequel “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. This original country of origin US one-sheet movie poster highlights the titular archaeologist hero as a beacon of light surrounded by darkness. Originally flat and unfolded as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to excellent effect being presented totally unrestored high grade condition. Often seen as the “weakest” of the franchise (not so in my book) this is considerably rarer than posters from the other films in the series and represents a fantastic piece of scarce original movie memorabilia for an incredibly popular and well love film franchise.
Trivia: While filming the whipping scene, the crew played a practical joke on Harrison Ford. While he was chained to a large stone, Barbra Streisand appeared, dressed in a leather dominatrix outfit. She proceeded to whip him, saying “That’s for Hanover Street (1979), the worst movie I ever saw.” She continued whipping him for Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), and making all of that money. Carrie Fisher then threw herself in front of Ford to protect him, and Irvin Kershner chided director Steven Spielberg. “Is this how you run your movies ?” This entire sequence was filmed.

Arguably the most sought after design for “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. This Style B, US one-sheet one-sheet displays the unmistakable painted artwork of Drew Struzan which features a montage of just about all the best elements from this film; from the heart wrenching evil villain Mola Ram, the comic relief character Short Round and the episode’s love interest – Willie Scott. And of course taking centre stage is Harrison Ford as the titular Indiana Jones – all beautifully illustrated by Struzan. It’s hardly a wonder why this poster is so desirable; it represents the best parts of this all-action series. Originally rolled, as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to excellent effect being presented in totally unrestored high grade condition with only light handling wear. My personal favourite Indiana Jones movie with this modern, alternative movie poster re-imagining by Alistair Little, arguably superior to some of the official movie posters that accompanied the 1984 release of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. This hand-numbered artist proof, #7 from a very limited print run of only 10 has also been signed by the artist. Printed on 300 gsm art paper this giclee art print gives the impression of being original painted artwork. The colour palette and print quality is superb; it needs to be seen to fully appreciate just how stunning it really is. Taking centre stage is Harrison Ford as the titular Indiana Jones offset by the menacing Thuggee god Kali. Originally rolled (as issued) this superb example displays to excellent effect. Genuinely scarce it represents a fantastic example of modern cinematic movie memorabilia for an incredibly popular and well loved character.
Trivia: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck were concerned how to keep the audience interested during the exposition on the Thugee cult. Huyck and Katz proposed a tiger hunt, but Spielberg said “There’s no way I’m going to stay in India long enough to shoot a tiger hunt.” They eventually decided on a dinner scene involving eating bugs, monkey brains, and the like. “Steve and George both still react like children, so their idea was to make it as gross as possible,” says Katz.
What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

A real statement piece and talking point – An ultra rare (this is the only one I have ever seen or offered for sale), large format US bus shelter size wilding poster that was solely used for advance publicity, being pasted on walls around town before the movie played. This is a true US release poster – note the R Ratings box and not one of the readily available Thai one-sheets, that (whether officially or unofficially) adopted this imagery.

In the desolate wastelands of a post apocalyptic world, stands Max (Mel Gibson) – it’s an iconic image as the ‘Road Warrior’ looks to battle the movie’s three villains. All who are featured on the poster – Wes (Vernon Wells), Mohawk Biker (Guy Norris) and The Humungus (Kjell Nilsson). This first year of release, country of origin, original 1981 Australian Daybill is presented in excellent, tri-folded (as issued) condition that displays superbly with deep, vibrant colours and stunning sci-fi action imagery. A very desirable and rare film poster from one of the most genre defining and influential film’s ever made.
Trivia: According to George Miller, it was Mel Gibson‘s idea to make Max look as rough and ragged as he did. Before filming began, he cut his own hair and eyebrows, cut the sleeve off his leather jacket, and tore up his gloves.

There is no doubting the cinematic and cultural influence and impact of Quentin Tarantino with his ninth feature “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” his most anticipated as he presents his own unique take on the end of ‘Hollywood’s Golden Age’ as the notorious Manson Family murders spelt the end of the hippie era of ‘Peace & Love’. With incredibly high production values and unique design dynamics (QT personally supervises the selection process) it is difficult to imagine a Tarantino movie where any of the posters and merchandising produced isn’t so hugely collectable and sought after. The 2019 country of origin ‘Coming Soon’ US / International Style B one sheet offered here is no exception. Designed by creative arts agency WORKS ADV and intended to complement the Style A design which features Brad Pitt & Leonardo DiCaprio this is truly a striking poster featuring Margot Robbie who plays the ‘doomed’ Sharon Tate in the Film outside the famous Westwood Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Originally rolled (as issued) this totally unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect without a blemish of note and represents a hugely collectable and totally cool piece of movie memorabilia from a truly iconic movie maker.
Trivia: Originally skeptical of the project, Sharon Tate’s sister Debra Tate gave the film and Margot’s portrayal of Sharon her blessing after Debra was embraced by Tarantino himself and became aware of how her sister would be represented within the film. Debra referred to Margot as a “dedicated craftsman,” and praised the actress’s research of Sharon prior to meeting with her.

Trivia: Its title is an homage to Sergio Leone, who has directed Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) as well as Once Upon a Time in America (1984). Tarantino has cited the director as a favorite of his and an influence throughout his career.
