“Guardians of the Galaxy”… A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. Being one of the most popular subjects for alternative movie posters, artist Tyler Stout has created an incredible looking poster and one of my personal favourites for the movie. This hand-numbered #458/750 screen print is a perfect example of Stout’s unique linear style. It truly is a stunning piece that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and a perfect composition. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect, absolutely beautiful and a desirable item of modern collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film franchise.
Trivia: The sensor that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) looks at when detecting the extra-dimensional creature during the opening of the movie is a modified 1977 Mattel handheld “Electronic Football” video game. Selling over one million units, this was one of the hottest items of Christmas 1977. The beep at the beginning is the “touchdown” sound, whilst the other beeps are the sound of the ball moving down the field.

A sequel was obvious & in 2017 “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” was released and quickly became one of the most popular subjects for alternative movie posters, with this amazing example by Kevin Wilson one of the best. His hand-numbered #2233/2475 screen print is a stunning poster that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and its eye-catching use of bold colours makes it really special. John Carpenter’s masterpiece of modern horror “Halloween” was the first and by far the best of this enduring film franchise which acted as the definitive slasher flick. The artwork for any of the film poster produced are all extremely collectable and strikingly individual in design; from the ‘Jack O’Lantern’ US one sheet to the UK quad film poster featuring a screaming Jamie Lee Curtis as Michael Myers’ hand appears at the car window; all seen through an icy blue haze. Offered here is one of the best of the more modern alternative movie poster designs by the artist Tyler Stout. Stout’s unique linear style and use of autumnal colour tones makes for a truly distinctive piece. Released in 2021 as a timed limited edition of only 2,170 (this is hand-numbered #1073) it immediately became a huge fan favourite. Trivia: John Carpenter considered the hiring of Jamie Lee Curtis as the ultimate tribute to Sir Alfred Hitchcock who had given her mother, Janet Leigh, legendary status in Psycho (1960) (for the same reason, Dr. Sam Loomis was named after Sam Loomis from Psycho). During the same period, Universal studio producers and director Richard Franklin were trying to enroll Jamie Lee in the new production of Psycho II (1983).

What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

The content and characterisations are super realistic, layout and colours perfectly balanced and a near perfect example of a re-imagined poster. Released in 2024 as an exclusive Private Commission, this strictly limited Artist Proof edition is hand-numbered AP 11/15 and signed by the artist. “The most shocking tale of carnage ever seen.”
“House of 1000 Corpses” is a stylish, gore-laden 2003 offering which marks the directorial debut of Trash/Industrial Artist Musician Rob Zombie. Largely unheard of outside Zombie’s fiercely loyal fanbase it grew to be a cult horror classic, proving hugely influential for the low budget flicks that followed. This originally rolled (as issued) 2024 limited edition fine art print (hand-numbered #8/150) by Matt Ryan Tobin displays superbly with great horror imagery, as Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding takes centre stage in incredible kaleidoscope pf colour. Screen printed using glow in the dark inks the whole poster takes on a very different and eerie look when the lights go down (see additional image). A personal favourite and one the best offerings of 2024 that represents a fine example of horror memorabilia and a perfect example of why alternative movie posters are becoming so collectable.
Trivia: Otis’ and Baby’s bizarre rants during the “home movie” segments are inspired by the Charles Manson family’s supposed home movies.

A superb and eye-catching alternative movie poster by Enzo Sciotti for the cult dark horror adaptation of the best selling Anne Rice novel “Interview with the Vampire”. Each vampire Lestat (Cruise), Louis (Pitt), Armand (Banderas) and the young Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) is beautifully portrayed by Sciotti on this 2020 Hand-Numbered (# 16/45) Private Commission Screen Print. Printed using eighteen (18) coloured inks onto Neenah Stardream Eris Metallic Paper, the colours truly pop from the paper (the photo doesn’t do this justice) it almost appears to be painted. Presented in rolled (as issued) condition it represents an outstanding, piece of cinematic memorabilia and artwork.
Trivia: Upon learning that Tom Cruise had been cast as Lestat, Rice was livid and stated Cruise could not carry the part, calling the casting “so bizarre; it’s almost impossible to imagine how it’s going to work”. Rice recused herself from the production and did not view the film until a producer sent her a VHS copy. Rice was so impressed by Cruise’s performance that she wrote him a letter of apology and recorded a two-minute video endorsing the film that was included as a pre-feature on mid-1990s VHS releases.

“Far Up…Far Out…Far More..”
An outstanding limited edition quad style and size, alternative movie poster for George Lazenby‘s one & only appearance as Ian Fleming’s super spy James Bond in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. A magnificent, James Bond poster with bold vibrant colours and a combination of intricate and detailed all-action artwork from one of the best illustrators currently working – Paul Mann. Truly impressive and immediately recognisable as a Bond film. This alternative movie poster printed in 2022 is particularly scarce as it was printed full quad size at 30″ x 40″ with only 100 in exclusive this run – it sold out immediately on release. Presented unrestored in original unfolded (as issued), rolled condition this is hand-numbered #004 (any 00 number is particularly important for any Bond collector) example displays to impressive effect and represents a fantastic piece of collectable James Bond cinematic memorabilia from one of the most respected entries in this long running franchise.
Trivia: George Lazenby suggested a scene where Bond skis off a cliff and opens a parachute. This was scrapped, as the filmmakers lacked the resources to pull it off. It was used as the opening for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977).

The blood red colouring of the infamous T-rex skeleton makes for one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable films in movie history. It can only be Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster “Jurassic Park”. Ground breaking and game changing are phrases banded around far to easily in this day of modern cinema but “Jurassic Park” truly deserves these accolades. A massive worldwide success on its release with merchandising and memorabilia hugely sought after with numerous posters produced for the title, some better than others with this example by Andrew Swainson certainly one of the most impressive. Swainson takes one of the most memorable scenes from the film as the T-Rex bursts from the trees to chase the jeep. From 2024 this rolled (as issued) alternative movie poster displays and presents to excellent effect and in addition to such incredible imagery this poster has been hand-signed and remarqued with a velociraptor by the artist to the bottom right corner area. A fine piece of movie memorabilia from the film that kickstarted the CGI phenomenon and made millions fall in love with a T-Rex.
Trivia: The novel was published in 1990. However, pre-production of the film began in 1989, using only Michael Crichton‘s manuscript. It was widely believed that the book would be such a hit that it would make an outstanding movie. It turns out that assumption was correct

“Let the festivities begin”
Titled “The May Queen” this impressive giclee art print inspired by Ari Aster’s cult classic horror film “MidSommar” features the beautiful and intricate artwork of Ukrainian artist Ann Bembi, who’s photo-realistic style perfectly suits the content. With shades of “Wicker Man” the bright colours and sea of flowers can’t hide the anguish and fear of lead actress Florence Pugh (Dani). A lovely alternative movie poster for this slow-burn pagan horror that has a rapidly growing cult following. Available for a strictly limited one-hour time window on April 5th 2022 when 580 were ordered, with the poster here being hand-numbered #222. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents and displays to excellent effect and represents an outstanding piece of horror genre movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The practice of ättestupa is effectively a myth. As depicted in the movie, the elderly were expected to sacrifice for the good of the village, maintaining efficiency.

“If it doesn’t scare you, you’re already dead!”
In 1968 George A. Romero released the zombie classic “Night of the Living Dead”. The one-sheet poster that accompanied the release is a true icon of poster design using zombie footage from the movie and printed using black, white and lurid green imagery. The original poster has been reworked and sharpened up in 2024 by Bottlneck Gallery and ISH with colour separations by a true master of his craft – Jason Edmiston, who used the all red style, replicating the look of the 10th Anniversary (1978) one-sheet design. The studio had this to say on the release “George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead helped create the walking dead genre of film, and the original one-sheet movie poster is as bold and iconic now as it was in the late ‘60s. We worked with ISH and artist extraordinaire Jason Edmiston to revive the original one-sheet theatrical poster art in order to create an officially licensed, and horrifyingly awesome, screen print edition! The poster features bold design aesthetics with the title and credit work, all dutifully reanimated by Jason’s deft hand.” Presented in excellent unrestored, originally rolled (as issued) condition this variant edition is hand-numbered #6/100 and comes printed in a deep blood red colour tone. A highly desirable example of cinema memorabilia from perhaps the most influential horror film of the modern era.

In 2023 artist, Paul Mann created the first of his ‘Living Dead’ trilogy and it’s fair to say he has produced a stunning alternative movie poster. A truly striking image that is perfectly suited to the portrait format of this edition. This limited edition art print is hand-numbered #26 from a print run of 150. With incredible likenesses of all the major cast, it is the trowel wielding zombie Karen Cooper (Kyra Schon) who takes centre stage with the use of lurid green coloured inks only adding to the eerie effect of this edition. This excellent example presents and displays near perfectly and represents a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia from one of the most influential horror film’s ever made.
