  • The Graduate Alternative Movie Poster

    Graduate, The

    £695.00

“This is Benjamin. He’s a little worried about his future.”

Nautilus Art Prints released this Laurent Durieux variant as a limited run of 200 in 2017. In this poster, Durieux creates a bright and colourful retro summer aesthetic as he illustrates the memorable scuba-suit pool scene from Mark Nichols’ 1967 comedy-drama-romance “The Graduate”. This scene was very symbolic in displaying Ben’s (Dustin Hoffman) lack of control over his future whilst he was still trapped under hs parents control. The 12-colour screen print is signed by Durieux and hand-numbered #36/200. Having a very limited release these alternative movie posters are incredibly rare. Unrestored, this rolled (as issued) poster presents and displays to exceptional effect and represents a superb example of genuinely scarce modern film memorabilia featuring one of Hollywood’s greatest romantic comedy’s…classic and very COOL!

Trivia: In the famous promotional still and original poster for this film, Dustin Hoffman is seen in the background framed by Mrs. Robinson’s shapely leg. The leg in that photo didn’t belong to Anne Bancroft, however; it belonged to a then-unknown model, Linda Gray, who later played Mrs. Robinson in a London stage musical of The Graduate & Sue Ellen Ewing in the TV show Dallas.

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”

A global phenomenon when originally released in 1977 producing (at the time) a multitude of related memorabilia including some exceptional posters one of which was a design by renowned fantasy artists Greg & Tim Hildebrandt. Although more frequently associated with the British UK quad design the Hildebrandt artwork was used in the United States to advertise “Star Wars: A New Hope” under the title “La Guerra de las Galaxias” where this Spanish Language Style A one-sheet was used to promote the film in Spanish speaking countries and audiences within the U.S. Very much a favourite among Star Wars collectors the Hildebrandt artwork is incredibly sought after, with this version printed in much lower numbers than regular 1977 one-sheets with no later printings. Presented here in original unrestored condition this folded (as issued) example has deep unfaded vibrant colours and classic Star Wars artwork …“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid”

  • Withnail-and-I-Movie-Poster

    Withnail and I

    £125.00

“You are invited to spend an hilarious weekend in the English countryside”

With its iconic Ralph Steadman artwork an original 1987 UK quad film poster for Bruce Robinson’s massive cult hit “Withnail and I” is one of the scarcest and most sought after British film posters of the 80’s with prices (if you can find one) into four figures. Thank fully for the 10th Anniversary re-release in 1997 Handmade Films produced a ‘new’ poster for this remastered cult classic, which although rare (again due to limited cinematic releases) are available. Steadman’s design is retained for the title with gilt framed colour photograph of the titular “Withnail and I” (Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann) off setting a yellow linoleum floor full of fag ends, beans and rubbish…Very in-keeping with the overall atmosphere of squalor that pervades the film. Offered here is an exceptional unrestored country of origin British UK quad movie poster from 1997 re-release for one of the most celebrated British film’s of recent times. Originally rolled (as issued) this presents and displays superbly and represents a much more affordable alternative for a truly classic cult British movie which respected critic and entertainer Jonathan Ross described as…“One of the funniest British films ever made”.

    Withnail and I

    £1,795.00

“I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze ! We want the finest wines available to humanity. And we want them here, and we want them now !”

With its iconic Ralph Steadman artwork an incredible find, an original 1987 UK quad film poster for Bruce Robinson’s classic cult hit “Withnail and I”. Although now regarded as a truly iconic film on its initial release the reception was (too say the least) lukewarm based upon a very low key marketing campaign. One of the scarcest and most desirable British film posters of the 80’s. Steadman’s unique and immediately recognisable design for the title is bordered with an ornate gilded frame off set against a white tiled toilet wall covered with graffiti …Very much complementing the overall atmosphere of squalor that pervades the film. Offered here is an exceptional unrestored country of origin British UK quad movie poster from 1987  for one of the most celebrated British film’s of recent times. Originally ROLLED (as issued) this presents and displays without a fault; truly exceptional, investment grade condition original film movie memorabilia for…“One of the funniest British films ever made”…Jonathan Ross.

Trivia: Much of this film’s promotional art is designed by illustrator Ralph Steadman, in the famous gonzo style he used and created for the works of Hunter S. Thompson notably Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). He is listed as Miscellaneous Crew.
