Probably the most important film of ‘modern’ cinema, launching a movie trend that is now commonly referred to as the ‘Summer Blockbuster’. It also happens to be one of the best and most memorable movie poster images ever ! So why reinvent it ? Of all the different variations for a “Jaws” poster, this alternative movie poster based (only slightly tweaked) on his original 1976 design is by leading Thai artist Banhan Thaitanaboon, is considered one of the best. Roger Kastel’s original design of the huge Great White Shark about to break the waterline and devour the naked female swimmer has been adapted. The top half of the poster includes incredible lifelike illustrations of the key actor’s Quint (Robert Shaw), Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) and Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), with some action thrown for good measure as the shark attacks Hooper in the underwater cage. Film and alternative movie posters by Thai artists are starting to gain a strong following with collectors, and with artists like Ise Ananphada, Banhan, Kwow and Tongdee Panumas, it’s easy to see why. Printed by Baker Press, this very limited release of only 40, has been hand-signed in gold pen with a full signature by the artist – Banhan Thaitanaboon. Totally unrestored this beautiful rolled, unfolded (as issued) example displays to exceptional effect, and with 11 coloured inks used, as expected the colours pop from the paper. Trivia: Several decades after the film’s release, Lee Fierro, who played Mrs. Kintner, walked into a seafood restaurant and noticed that the menu had an “Alex Kintner Sandwich.” She commented that she had played his mother so many years ago; the owner of the restaurant ran out to meet her, and he was none other than Jeffrey Voorhees, who had played her son. They had not seen each other since the original movie shoot.

What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

It also caused a surge in cases of aqua phobia (fear of water) and that’s largely attributable to Roger Kastel’s original marketing campaign who created one of the best and most memorable movie poster images ever ! So why reinvent it ? Well, it’s just so popular and one of the most licensed of all titles when it comes to the growing market for alternative movie posters. This artist signed and hand-numbered (#19/25) limited edition Artist Proof print by Graham Humphreys is a real eye-catcher and is considered one of the best and most desirable currently produced; incredible character driven imagery of Chief Brody, Quint, Hooper and of course the 25ft great white shark. When it comes to amazing alternative movie posters, this limited edition art print by Laurent Durieux is a real eye-catcher and more along the lines of a travel poster as ‘Martha’s Vineyard Welcomes You’. There are a lot of alternative ‘Jaws’ posters on the market with this 2020 offering considered one of the best and most desirable with beautiful imagery. This wonderful design, featuring the second on screen victim – Alex Kitner is very clever as Alex is seen running on the Amity beach, the sea in the background and if you look closely the black Labrador Pippin about to run into the sea and meet his grisly fate. Look closer and you see an additional easter egg as one of the kites flying high above the beach resembles a black shark’s fin; a nod to Durieux’s earlier 2013 Jaws poster where the same fin is shown on a sunshade. This originally rolled, unfolded (as issued) example displays to exceptional effect. Durieux’s style is unmistakable with perfect, colours and composition. A truly outstanding and extremely rare art print that represents an impressive item of highly sought after modern movie memorabilia.

Although a relatively recent release any paper for Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise is extremely desirable. This incredibly popular film series is always complemented by an equally incredible series of movie posters and for the 2024 re-release the acclaimed Batman and comic book artist, Jock was commissioned to create something special for the 10th Anniversary, and he has not disappointed. Offered here is the Style B, US/International one-sheet for “John Wick” which features the ‘Baba-Yaga’ imagined in Jock’s unique style. Distinctive with its bold use of red and black colour, it really is an impressive looking poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this displays to excellent effect with only very minimal handling wear. Having a very limited cinematic release of only two days this is a truly scarce item of modern original collectable movie memorabilia from one of the best action franchises in recent memory that looks very very cool !
Trivia: Keanu Reeves became so proficient in tactical training, that his instructors said he was almost TOO good, at performing many tasks, such as reloading a magazine, faster and better than professional soldiers would in live-fire combat situations.

Although a relatively recent release any paper for Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise is extremely desirable. This incredibly popular film series which has changed the way action movies are made has spawned (too date) three sequels, a documentary (Wick is Pain), a TV series (The Continental) and character spin-off movie with Ana de Armas as Ballerina. Complemented by an equally incredible series of movie posters this example designed by creative arts agency LA which features ‘Baba-Yaga’ John Wick in close up aiming a gun is without doubt the rarest and most sought after. When first released in 2014 it took cinema audiences by surprise as they expected an another average action movie starring an unfashionable actor who hadn’t made a decent movie for years – JOHN WICK changed that overnight as Keanu let everyone know – “I’m thinkin’ I’m back” . Because of low Studio expectation the initial marketing budget was minimal which resulted in only a limited number of cinema posters printed – they are incredibly scarce. Offered here is an original, first release (2014), country of origin US one-sheet. Dark & moody, it really is an impressive and eye-catching design. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays superbly with minimal only handling wear; the dark shades of green, purples and blacks are deep and unfaded. This is the first time in over nine years that I have managed to source one. It truly is one of the most collectable movie posters in recent memory from a supremely influential action franchise that looks very very cool !
Trivia: The film reunites Keanu Reeves, Daniel Bernhardt, and Randall Duk Kim, along with producers-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, all of whom were involved in The Matrix Trilogy.

A real statement piece and talking point – An ultra rare (this is the only one I have ever seen or offered for sale), large format US bus shelter size wilding poster that was solely used for advance publicity, being pasted on walls around town before the movie played. This is a true US release poster – note the R Ratings box and not one of the readily available Thai one-sheets, that (whether officially or unofficially) adopted this imagery.

Joaquin Phoenix stars as Arthur ‘Joker’ Fleck in Todd Phillips’ “Joker”. A movie loved by the fans as Phillips’ presents his own unique take on the ‘Clown Prince of Crime’. Creative arts agency BOND have designed a truly stunning ‘October 4’ film poster which has been dubbed the ‘Playing Card’ style. Critically acclaimed and commercially record breaking film Phoenix’s portrayal of DC’s anti-superhero is quite breathtaking. Originally rolled (as issued) this totally unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect without a blemish of note and represents a hugely collectable and totally cool piece of movie memorabilia for one of popular culture’s most memorable villains.

“Jurassic Park” was one of the greatest and most enjoyable movies ever to come out of the 1990’s and certainly one of the best ‘pop corn’ films of all-time, so it’s no surprise that that we now reach number six in this hugely popular series.
