An outstanding alternative movie poster for Francis Ford Coppola’s multi award winning Vietnam war epic “Apocalypse Now”. There is no doubting the influence and impact of Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece with any paper hugely desirable and the German A1 film poster offered here is no exception. This design was one of several created by Bob Peak with this style featuring stylised images of Brando as Colonel Kurtz and Sheen, remarkable artwork for Coppola’s voyage into the ‘Heart of Darkness’. Peak’s designs for “Apocalypse Now” is widely regarded as one of the great and most iconic movie poster campaigns, winning an Award of Excellence from The Society of Illustrators in 1980. So it was no surprise that in 2021 when Mondo issued a remastered screenprint licensed by Zoetrope Productions with production and colour separations handled by Jason Edmiston, Jon Smith, Shane Mahn and Peak’s son Alex, it sold out immediately. From a hand-numbered edition of 425, this is #72. Originally rolled (as issued) with a amazing detail and depth of colour, this outstanding example presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a beautiful alternative movie poster from one of the finest film’s ever made…“Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that”
Trivia: John Milius explained how he had come up with the title “Apocalypse Now”. Apparently, this was derived from a very popular tattoo among the hippie community of a peace sign that said “Nirvana Now”. Milius, by adding just a couple of extra lines, edited the peace symbol to make it look like a circle with a B52 bomber in the middle, and changed the slogan to “Apocalypse Now”.

Without doubt the most controversial film of its day, and that’s saying something when you consider it was released alongside “The Exorcist” and “Last Tango in Paris”. Often the subject matter for many up and coming artists looking to make a name for themselves in the up and coming Alternative Movie Poster market, this offering by Greg Ruth really is a cut above the rest. This 2019 release for Stanley Kubrick’s ultra-violent masterpiece “Clockwork Orange” is quite simply a stunning piece of artwork, with a strictly limited print run of only 150 this is numbered #11. This orange (naturally) coloured variant edition is a less is more style featuring Malcolm McDowell character Alex with the title cleverly incorporated into his signature bowler hat. The film still remains Kubrick’s most controversial work; quite a feat when one considers the range of topics the filmmaker explored across his remarkable career. This superb unrestored example is presented rolled (as issued) and displays to excellent effect. A superb addition to any collection and an incredibly scarce piece of modern film art and cultural memorabilia.
Trivia: The film was unavailable for public viewing in the UK from 1973 until 2000, the year after Stanley Kubrick‘s death. British video stores were so inundated with requests for the movie that some took to putting up signs that read: ‘No, we do not have A Clockwork Orange (1971).’

Artist Matthew Peak is no stranger to horror icons as it was his Freddy Krueger artwork that adorned the first Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) US One-Sheet and has now has created an award-winning “Frankenstein Monster” print for the 2018 exhibition Mondo Presents “Universal Studio Monsters”. This limited-edition example has been hand-numbered #6 from a print run of 325. In 2018, the leading and most respected alternative movie poster forum expressobeans.com made this print their “Cinema Poster of the Year”. Incredibly rare and highly collectible, an excellent example of modern cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Boris Karloff‘s Monster in this film does not physically resemble the character in Mary Shelley‘s novel. It was make-up artist Jack P. Pierce who came up with innovations such as the Monster’s flat head, the bolts through the neck, the droopy eyelids, and the poorly-fitted suit. Any future Frankenstein film that features any of these physical abnormalities is taking its inspiration from Pierce’s make-up work.

Issued by Nakatomi Inc in 2013 as a series of high-quality silk-screen prints scanned directly from Berni Wrightson’s original pen and ink drawings used in the 25th-anniversary edition of his ‘Frankenstein’ book. This amazingly detailed and intricate illustration, titled ‘A Filthy Process’ shows Frankenstein working to bring his ‘creature’ to life in his laboratory. Printed onto 130lb Cougar Natural Cover paper, this print has been signed with a full ‘Bernie Wrightson’ signature and hand-numbered #45/100. Presented in excellent condition with minimal handling wear this incredibly rare and highly collectible screen print, is an excellent example of modern cinematic movie memorabilia. Note: A page of Wrightson’s original Frankenstein art for the comics adaptation (same series as this) sold at auction in 2019 for a world record price of $1.2 million.
About Bernie Wrightson: Bernard Albert Wrightson was an American artist, among his career high points were co-creating the Swamp Thing character for DC Comics, his unique illustrated interpretation of the novel Frankenstein and adapting classic horror tales for Warren Publications, which feature his trademark intricate pen and brushwork.

“Sometimes It’s Hard To Say No”
By far the rarest and most desirable film poster for Jonathan Glazer’s dark brit-gangster thriller “Sexy Beast”. Produced by Empire Design this award winning original 2000 UK/International one sheet film poster is an incredible looking example…a deeply sunburnt Gal (Ray Winstone) relaxing poolside whilst the menacing shadow of his former partner in crime, Don (Sir Ben Kingsley) approaches; all photographed in blazing sunlight – you can feel the heat. Extremely scarce, this poster displays beautifully being originally rolled (as issued) and is presented in excellent condition with one of the memorable designs seen on a ‘modern’ poster. An impressive and highly collectable example of original cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Ray Winstone travelled to Spain two weeks before filming commenced to get as deep a tan as he could in the time possible and to eat as much as he could to bulk up considerably. He called it “the best rehearsal time I’ve ever had in my life.”

John Carpenter’s tale of alien occupation is part horror, part Sci-Fi and part social satire, all viewed through dark sunglasses of Roddy Piper . This original They Live movie poster is probably the scarcest of all the John Carpenter paper from the series of four (Escape From New York, Prince of Darkness, The Fog & They Live) 2018 remastered re-releases and a very rare find in such excellent condition as offered here…The original 2018 Japanese B2 film poster for John Carpenter’s They Live was originally rolled (as issued) & presents in exceptional original unrestored condition with great detailed artwork (unique to the Japanese re-release, as the other posters produced for these releases all feature new re-imaging artwork by Matt Ferguson) & strong vibrant colours. Extremely rare this example represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s ever working in the sci-fi / horror / action genre.
