This alternative movie poster by Thai artist Kwow for Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” is a spectacular display of imaginative artwork. Kwow’s impressive artwork beautifully imagines the most memorable action scene from the book and the film as the giant squid attacks the Nautilus and its beautifully complemented by some amazing realistic likenesses of the main cast members – James Mason as Captain Memo, Kirk Douglas, Peter Lorre and Paul Lukas. If you are a Jules Verne fan, this is simply one of the best pieces of art you can get. Directed Richard Fleischer and personally produced by Walt Disney. It was the first feature-length Disney film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution company and is also considered by many to be a precursor to the ‘Steampunk’ genre. Printed on Fedrigoni Stucco Old Mill Premium White paper using 10 coloured inks, this hand-numbered #57/110 screen print displays and presents superbly and is offered in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. Film and alternative movie posters by Thai artists are starting to gain a strong following with collectors, and with artists like Ise Ananphada, Banhan, Kwow and Tongdee Panumas, it’s easy to see why. An eye-catching item of modern movie memorabilia for an extremely popular Walt Disney fantasy adventure film that creates a real ‘WOW’ factor.
Trivia: In 1969, Captain Nemo’s pipe organ, which had been on display in Disneyland, was redressed and now resides in the ballroom of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion. A duplicate was constructed for the ballroom of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion, which opened in 1971, and over a decade later another duplicate was built for Tokyo Disneyland.

An all-action sci-fi vista of a film poster for Glen A. Larson’s ‘epic’ “Battlestar Galactica”. Receiving a full cinematic release it was an edited together version of three TV shows released in the USA largely to cash in, on the still very popular ‘Star Wars’ phenomena. With some colourful, dynamic sci-fi artwork by Robert Tanenbaum (a homage to Tom Chantrell’s famous art for ‘Star Wars’ perhaps ?) this original 1978 country of origin US one-sheet movie poster is presented in original unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays to impactful effect with light age and handling wear; colours are deep and unfaded with some truly rip roaring laser blasting, robot, space ship adventure imagery. A cool item that represents a fantastic piece of very collectable and desirable original movie memorabilia for a much loved and hugely popular film and TV franchise.
Trivia: John Dykstra, who worked on Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) used much of the technology developed for ILM in this movie, including his motion control camera, the so-called “Dykstraflex”.

Blood Beast Terror (1968) was a Tony Tensor, Tigon Films release – a British studio providing real competition t0 Hammer, for so long the leading horror film producer in the UK. The British poster campaign was represented by a stunningly colourful UK quad, a mixture of illustration and photo montage, with some truly gruesome imagery. Presented unrestored and in excellent original folded (as issued) condition. A personal favourite of mine and a scarce example of British horror cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: The stage play shown in the film echoes the story of notorious grave-robbers Burke and Hare. They would be the subject of Vernon Sewell‘s next film the following year.

Without doubt the most controversial film of its day, and that’s saying something when you consider it was released alongside “The Exorcist” and “Last Tango in Paris”. This original 1972 publicity still from the American release of Stanley Kubrick’s ultra-violent masterpiece “Clockwork Orange” is quite simply an incredible visual image – original stills are notoriously hard to come by with the majority on offer modern reprints. Showing a close up of the Director-Producer the snipe on the reverse carries the correct reference number (SKB-130) and the following – STANLEY KUBRICK, producer-director of “A Clockwork Orange”, a Warner Bros. release. Based on the novel by Anthony Burgess, the film was adapted to the screen by Kubrick.” It still remains his most controversial work; quite a feat when one considers the range of topics the filmmaker explored across his remarkable career. This superb example is presented flat/unfolded (as issued) and displays to excellent effect with only very minimal handling wear. A superb addition to any collection (for display or investment) and an incredibly scarce piece of film and cultural memorabilia.
Trivia: The film was unavailable for public viewing in the UK from 1973 until 2000, the year after Stanley Kubrick‘s death. British video stores were so inundated with requests for the movie that some took to putting up signs that read: ‘No, we do not have A Clockwork Orange (1971).’

This 2022 release for Stanley Kubrick’s ultra-violent masterpiece “Clockwork Orange” is quite simply a stunning piece of artwork, with a strictly limited print run of only 50 this is numbered #25. Malcolm McDowell’s character Alex provides the focal point. Visual impact and artistic design are key aspects of any Kibrick production and this beautiful example perfectly illustrates that. Absolutely stunning, the photograph really doesn’t do this example justice – being a giclee print (see below) the vibrant colours pop from the paper. What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

Paul Shipper has produced an incredible piece of movie related artwork, the front cover art for Neca Toys “Ultimate MacReady” action figure released in 2021 for John Carpenter’s “The Thing”. With flamethrower in hand, Kurt Russell stands ready and is surrounded by a bright white light, paying homage to Drew Struzan’s iconic US one-sheet artwork. The background explores the whole mid to light blue colour palette that exudes the feeling of cold. This signed, titled and hand-annotated Artist Proof print by Paul Shipper was never available commercially and comes directly from the artist’s personal archive. The quality of the printing is truly outstanding and almost appears to be original painted artwork. It represents a very collectable & highly desirable film related poster from a movie rightly regarded as a classic of the genre.

An outstanding alternative movie poster by the maestro of British horror art, Graham Humphreys for John Carpenter’s horror, sci-fi classic “The Thing”. This superb limited edition example is incredibly rare in any edition and to offer an Artist Proof example (this is hand-numbered #10/10) is indeed a bonus. Antarctic Alien terror never looked better than this, thanks to Humphreys’ stunning imagery, MacReady (Kurt Russell) and the Thing illustrations are perfectly realised, with beautiful colour tones. Released in 2023 as an exclusive Private Commission, this immediately sold out when launched. Originally rolled, flat-unfolded (as issued) the example offered displays to exceptional effect and represents a truly outstanding and extremely desirable item of collectable movie memorabilia with a ‘modern’ twist…“Did you notice anything strange about the dog that arrived yesterday? Anything at all?”
Trivia: Unused music composed for this film was later used by Ennio Morricone in Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight (2015). Ironically, Morricone’s Thing score was nominated for a Razzie for worst score, while his score for Hateful Eight won him an Oscar.

For Duncan Jones’ 2009 science fiction masterpiece “MOON” Cardinal Communications have designed a most stylish and desirable movie poster for many a year. Truly stunning with exceptional design and graphics and due to the Film’s very low distribution (mainly to Independent or ‘art-house’ cinemas these posters are extremely scarce. This rolled (as issued) original UK Quad looks amazing and is presented in excellent condition and displays to fine effect.
Trivia: The film makes several references to Stanley Kubrick‘s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). GERTY looks and sounds similar to HAL 9000. They also have a similar dot: HAL’s is red and GERTY’s is blue. This film choreographs scenes in space to classical music, just as Kubrick did.

“Don’t be afraid of the dark. Be afraid of what’s in the dark”
An original 2000 US one-sheet movie poster for Vin Diesel’s breakthrough movie “Pitch Black” and the first film to feature Vin’s character Richard B. Riddick which to date (there is talk of a fourth in the works) has spawned three sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) (animated), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013).Diesel is brilliant as Riddick, truly menacing but forced to help people who otherwise would only see him as a threat. There is also an underlying humour in his performance as well, which adds another dimension to the character. This is the sort of role that Vin excels in, the anti-hero, whos character is not as one-dimensional as first appears. The poster, designed by New Wave Creative is super stylish with a black and silver colour palette, with the example offered here presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. It represents an impressive item of movie memorabilia that looks fantastic and also represents the first movie for one of cinemas most recognisable and successful actors.
Trivia: The film developed from David Twohy‘s unused idea for Alien³ (1992) involving a space prison.

“Humanity’s last hope…rests on a high powered machine gun”
An original, first release, 2007 UK Quad for “Planet Terror”, Robert Rodriguez‘ homage to the ‘Grindhouse’ movies of the Seventies. An almost tongue in cheek original movie poster featuring totally different artwork to the US release poster which focuses on the Rose McGowan‘s ‘machine gun legged’ character – Cherry Darling. Presented in excellent unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition with a trademark Tarantino/Rodriguez antique finish. “Planet Terror” (the movie and the poster) plays homage to the ‘trashy’ films of the past in a clever and witty way that represents a an eye-catching piece of cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Michael Parks reprises his character as Sheriff Earl McGraw in Planet Terror (2007). He also played Sheriff Earl McGraw in Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004).
