An excellent example for one of the best comedy horror films ever made…“Gremlins”. Written by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter, The Goonies) and directed by Joe Dante it was a huge box office hit. Re-released by Warner Bros. in 2019, recognising the fact that the movie has now become a classic ‘Christmas’ movie with Gizmo dressed in a Santa hat set against a Snow White background with the landscape format of the British UK quad perfectly suited to his design. Originally rolled (as issued) this 2019 film poster presents and displays very well. Totally original and unrestored this hard to find modern re-release of an important 80’s movie is becoming more and more sought after and represents a great collectable piece of original film movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Zach Galligan recounted in an interview that when the movie was made, there was no CGI, so all of the Gremlins were animatronics, each costing between $30,000-40,000 ($60,000-$90,500 adjusted for 2024 inflation). When everyone left the lot for the day, security would have everyone open the trunks of their cars to make sure they weren’t stolen.
…more detailThis is certainly one of the most intense films Scorsese has directed, and one of the most important of his career. It is an iconic motion picture that will stand the test of time for years and years to come. The movie poster that accompanied the Czech release of Martin Scorsese’s Oscar winning Jake La Motta biopic “Raging Bull” was equally as striking. Czech artist Zdenek Ziegler has impressively adapted the close up image of La Motta (De Niro) from the US & British campaigns and added a ‘devilish’ tone to the design. The originally rolled (as issued), unrestored example offered here has minimal handling and displays & presents to excellent effect with deep unfaded colours. Very rare, as it received a very limited release in Czechoslovakia and was only shown in a handful of ‘art-house’ cinemas. A must have title for the serious collector or fan it represents a fantastic item of good looking collectable movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The reasons why the film was made in black and white were mainly to differentiate it from Rocky (1976), as well as for period authenticity. Another reason was that Martin Scorsesedidn’t want to depict all that blood in a color picture. Also, in the book, Jake LaMotta says “Now, sometimes, at night, when I think back, I feel like I’m looking at an old black and white movie of myself. Why it should be black and white I don’t know, but it is.”

The originally rolled (as issued), unrestored example offered here has minimal handling and displays & presents to excellent effect with beautiful colour tones and dramatic boxing imagery. Incredibly rare, as it received a very limited release and was only shown in a handful of ‘Park Circus’ affiliated cinemas. Trivia: In preparation for his role, Robert De Niro went through extensive physical training, then entered in three genuine Brooklyn boxing matches and won two of them.

“The Shawshank Redemption” has achieved (rightly so) legendary status since its first release in 1994 seemingly appearing in every Top Ten Favourite film poll ever published. On first release it suffered from poor viewership and competition from other films such as Pulp Fiction, and was a box office disappointment, despite receiving multiple award nominations (including seven Oscar nominations) highly positive reviews from critics for its acting, story, and realism. Through Ted Turner’s acquisition of Castle Rock Entertainment, the film started gaining more popularity in 1997 after it started near-daily airings on Turner’s TNT network. This strategy along with a determined and widespread release on video has propelled the movie to the legendary status it enjoys today. The finished poster showing Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) arms outstretched, crucifix style looking up to heavens in the pouring rain is one of the best posters created (in my opinion) for any movie and a true personal favourite that’s perfectly suited to the landscape format of the British Quad; even better in my opinion than the one sheet. The orange background gives the appearance of the figure being bathed in the light of hope to emphasise the journey from the dark of the prison to eventual redemption. Likely unused, it is the best example of the poster I have ever offered for sale. Presented rolled (as issued) with beautiful colour tones it really fine piece of rare original cinematic memorabilia from one of the Hollywood’s greatest films.
Trivia: Despite the film’s box-office failure, Warner Brothers shipped 320,000 rental copies to U.S. video stores, a figure a spokesman freely admitted was “out of whack” with the film’s performance in cinemas. The film became the most rented video of 1995, and one of the highest-grossing video rentals of all time.
