  Thunderbirds Are Go

  £595.00

“Excitement is GO! Adventure is GO! Danger is GO!”.

Celebrating the colourful world of International Rescue, this complete set of eight original US lobby cards for “Thunderbirds Are Go” showcases the characters, vehicles and miniature settings that made Gerry Anderson’s creation so distinctive. Images include Lady Penelope’s pink FAB 1 Rolls Royce, Tracy Island, Thunderbird 5 and the imposing Zero-X aircraft, alongside portraits of the Tracy brothers, Lady Penelope and Parker. Bright yellow title panels unite the cards, creating an attractive and varied display.

Directed by David Lane, “Thunderbirds Are Go”  brought the celebrated television series to the cinema in 1966, combining Supermarionation puppetry with elaborate model work and ambitious special effects. The story follows the Zero-X mission to Mars, with International Rescue called upon when disaster threatens, expanding the scale of the Andersons’ futuristic adventures for the big screen.

Each card measures 11 x 14 inches, and all eight are presented in excellent original condition. Complete sets are rarely encountered, as many were separated for individual sale, making this an especially appealing opportunity for collectors of Thunderbirds, Gerry Anderson and classic science-fiction cinema memorabilia.

Trivia: The five Tracy brothers were named after five of the NASA astronauts from the “Mercury Seven” space program from the early 1960’s: Scott Tracy after Scott Carpenter, Virgil Tracy after Gus Grissom whose real first name was Virgil, Alan Tracy after Alan Shepard, Gordon Tracy after Gordon Cooper, John Tracy after John Glenn.
