  American Psycho

  “…no introduction necessary”

  For me, one of the reasons the alternative movie poster market is so well regarded, Jack Hughes’ impressive alternative movie poster for Mary Harron’s serial killer cult thriller “American Psycho” hits all the right chords – demonic possession, an alter ego represented by the face peel right from the movie. Just creepy and dark and like a Francis Bacon painting it makes you feel the pain. Released in 2021 it presents to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued), featuring a design perfectly suited to the movie’s tone and feel. A stylish and memorable poster, that is hand-numbered #199 from a print run of 220 from that represents a very collectable item of cult original movie memorabilia.

  Trivia: The film had various problems with designer labels during production. Cerruti agreed to allow Christian Bale to wear their clothes, but not when the character was killing anyone. Rolex agreed that anyone in the film could wear their watches except Bateman (hence the famous line from the book “Don’t touch the Rolex” had to be changed to “Don’t touch the watch”). Perry Ellis provided underwear at the last minute after Calvin Klein pulled out of the project. Comme des Garçons refused to allow one of their overnight bags to be used to carry a corpse, so Jean Paul Gaultier was used instead.

Originally rolled (as issued) this superb example presents and displays to excellent effect & represents a really fine and affordable item of original British movie memorabilia for the film that “makes Ben Hur look like an epic”.

  Trivia: Though he was renowned as the most restrained and unflappable of the Pythons, when Sir Michael Palin was asked to do a seventh take of the scene where he crawls through mud, he had, in his own words, “A jolly good blow-up.” John Cleese and Graham Chapman were so astonished that they gave him a round of applause.

  Withnail and I

  With its iconic Ralph Steadman artwork an incredible find, an original 1987 UK quad film poster for Bruce Robinson’s classic cult hit “Withnail and I”. Although now regarded as a truly iconic film on its initial release the reception was (too say the least) lukewarm based upon a very low key marketing campaign. One of the scarcest and most desirable British film posters of the 80’s. Steadman’s unique and immediately recognisable design for the title is bordered with an ornate gilded frame off set against a white tiled toilet wall covered with graffiti …Very much complementing the overall atmosphere of squalor that pervades the film. Offered here is an exceptional unrestored country of origin British UK quad movie poster from 1987  for one of the most celebrated British film’s of recent times. Originally ROLLED (as issued) this presents and displays without a fault; truly exceptional, investment grade condition original film movie memorabilia for…“One of the funniest British films ever made”…Jonathan Ross.
