Acclaimed film maker Alejandro G. Iñárritu not only directed, co-wrote and produced the multi award winning 2014 movie “BiRDMAN” but he also took the photograph that Mark W. Carroll incorporated into the poster design used in the marketing campaign. A magnificent US/International one sheet movie poster for Joe & Anthony Russo’s 2014 super hero blockbuster “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. An impressive design by BLT & Associates with our heroes – Captain America, Black Widow and Nick Fury prominent against an all-action backdrop featuring the huge SHIELD Helicarrier, the villain Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) and the first glimpse of Sebastian Stan as the deadly assassin ‘The Winter Soldier’. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent and impressive effect. If key first appearances in movies (and movie posters) follows the same trend as the comic books then with Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie’s Falcon appearing in this instalment it is a must have item that represents a fine piece of collectable modern cinema movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Producer Kevin Feige described this movie as “a 1970s political thriller masquerading as a big superhero movie.”

Hall H, Comicon 2012 and Marvel Studios is again breaking box-office records, this time with the super hero blockbuster “The Avengers”. Riding the wave of success sequels to the hugely successful Captain America & Thor movies are announced as the assembled audience goes wild with anticipation…then an audible gasp, as the third film for 2014 is revealed, what ? “Guardians of the Galaxy” ? … A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. Because of the ‘risk’ factor the advertising budget was not as extravagant as the studios previous offerings, making paper from the film genuinely a lot a scarcer than Iron Man, Thor, Avengers etc. Hence the rarity for any of the film posters produced to accompany the release. Based on photographs by Michael Mueller, design agency BLT Communications certainly pushed the right buttons and created a stunning all-action, epic poster for this 2014 one-sheet. An amazing spectrum of purple and blue colours and frantic energy, it is a great looking image. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal of handling wear, absolutely stunning. Guaranteed original this represents a scarce item of modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film.
Trivia: According to James Gunn, the film’s soundtrack is composed mainly of 1970s and 1980s songs, as they are part of Quill’s memories of Earth: “The music is one of those touchstones we have to remind us that Quill is a real person from planet Earth who’s just like you and me, except that he’s in this big outer space adventure.”

“To Cut a Long Story Short”…It’s not many films that get a a London premiere at the Royal Albert Hall, but then it’s not every film that tells the story of meteoric rise, fall and ultimate reunion of new romantic pop sensations, Spandau Ballet. The advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film poster that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release is truly scarce. It really is a great snap shot of the 80’s image of the band from their first visit to New York. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays as new. Never commercially available the posters for this release are unbelievably scarce…fantastic item of Spandau Ballet / New Romantics / film / cultural memorabilia presented in investment grade condition !

Alternative movie poster artist Ice Ananphada has created a truly beautiful looking movie poster for Wes Anderson’s best film to date, the multi Oscar winning 2014 production “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. Released in 2015 as a private commission this limited edition print is hand-numbered #61/65. Printed on dur-o-tone butcher white art paper using 15 colour inks (which includes two metallics) and featuring the star-studded cast and titular hotel, Ananphada’s colour palette, line work and detailing is incredible – it looks quite amazing. Originally rolled (as issued) this displays to excellent effect and is a fine example of collectable modern movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Ralph Fiennes partly based his character’s vocal traits on English comic actor Leonard Rossiter.

“Get ready for the experience of a lifetime”…If you know your your EDM from your EDC then this original 2014 US one sheet movie poster for Insomniac Events “Under the Electric Sky” is for you. Designed by creative agency P & A it is one of the most eye-popping colourful electro-pop posters I have ever seen, it bleeds colour and looks incredible; a real tribute to some of the best psychEDeliC posters of the late 60’s. Never having a full cinema release in the UK (only available on Netflix) these US one sheet posters are scarce & have become highly collectable. A superb and eye-catching alternative movie poster by Graham Humphreys’ for the cult dark comedy horror “What We Do in the Shadows”. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.created the clever idea of a family of vampires living together under the same roof and the struggles they encounter in modern day life. Each vampire housemate bears some resemblance to a past screen vampire – Nosferatu, David (Lost Boys), Dracula (Gary Oldman), Edward (Twilight zone) and Louis fromInterview With the Vampire. And it’s these five who feature on this 2015 Hand-Numbered (#AP 39/40) Artist Proof print that has also been signed by the artist – Graham Humphrey. Presented in excellent unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition with amazingly vibrant colour tones that truly pop from the paper (the photo doesn’t do this justice)it almost appears to be painted. A super-cool piece of cinematic memorabilia and artwork.
Trivia: The hill where the vampires have a run-in with the werewolves is the same hill filmed in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), where Frodo and the hobbits are running from the Black Rider and hiding under the roots of a tree.
