“As the Clone Wars sweep through the galaxy, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace.”

Beautiful, original 2008 UK quad movie poster for George Lucas’ animated instalment of the space saga that is “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. Striking artwork by CMP Design & New Wave Creative makes for a real eye-catching piece that because of the dark colours makes it very scarce in this exceptional condition. Originally rolled (as issued) this double sided example displays and presents to excellent effect. Like everything associated with “Star Wars” merchandise and advertising, the top quality production values have created a fantastic and colourful looking item of hugely collectable, hard to find original Star Wars memorabilia.

Film Description

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie Poster

“As the Clone Wars sweep through the galaxy, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace. More and more systems are falling prey to the forces of the dark side as the Galactic Republic slips further and further under the sway of the Separatists and their never-ending droid army. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt. But Count Dooku and his sinister agents, including the nefarious Asajj Ventress, will stop at nothing to ensure that Anakin and Ahsoka fail at their quest. Meanwhile, on the front lines of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars sees Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), Obi Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor) and Anakin’s New padawan Ashoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) attempting to rescue Jabba the Hutt’s son with Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) and Assajj Ventress (Nika Futterman) also looking for jabbas allegiance. The fact that Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor don’t voice could have been a problem but I think both the voice actors did a good job and they encapsulated what the characters are like in the prequels so I thought they led this film pretty well. The side characters all did a good job as well with ashoka being a good contrast for Anakin and obi wan and this new character worked in this film. What I do like about the clone wars was how it focused on the clone wars and the addition of captain Rex was a really good choice and I really like a character with personality in this clone army. Christopher Lee voicing Count Dooku was a great choice and I thought he did a really good job with the character along with ventress who was a good villain for this film. The story is where this film falls apart with the fact that there is not a lot of story but possibly too much action not enough story. Also they add a new story with about 20 Min’s to go and it is just an unwanted distraction that was not needed. The script is also pretty poor with Ashoka giving a lot of one liners and none of the characters really having an outstanding moment of dialogue. The style however was great I thought, it was unique and was a great choice for this film.

Most Popular Poster Types

US Posters

LOBBY CARD
11 x 14″ printed on heavy stock paper. Used as display in theatre lobbies. Originally made in sets of eight. Some sets have a title card, which contains credits and artwork, essentially a mini-poster. The remaining seven cards are coloured photographic credits and poster artwork showing different scenes from the movie.

WINDOW CARD
14 x 22″ printed on heavy stock paper with the top 4-6 inches usually left blank for the local cinema owner to fill in the cinema and the date it was due to play. Largely discontinued during the 1970’s.

HALF SHEET
22 x 28″ printed on heavy stock paper. The image displayed is normally a smaller version of the main poster, although some do have different artworks and sometimes come in two versions.

INSERT
14 x 36″ printed on heavy stock paper. Inserts usually have the same artwork as a one sheet. Popular with collectors since they are smaller and easier to frame. Normally come tri folded or rolled.

STYLE Y/FORTY BY SIXTY
40 x 60″ printed on heavy stock paper. Rare since they were primarily used for major motion pictures only. Designed to be used outside the theatre, on an easel, normally at a drive-in movie theatre.

ONE-SHEET
27 x 41″ printed on paper. This is the most common size of poster, intended to be displayed in a glass “marquee” case. It is the most sought after size by collectors. Since the 1980’s most posters are sent to the theatre rolled and maybe slightly smaller measuring 27″ by 40″ and with the advent of backlit light boxes a growing number of modern movie posters are available double-sided and the more traditional single-sided.

THREE-SHEET
41 x 81″ printed on paper. These were printed on two or three separate sheets designed to overlap, few survive. Used for larger advertising spaces, normally posted on walls, perfect for huge movie theatres the drive-in, where people could see them from a distance. From the 1970’s on, three-sheets were sometimes printed in one piece and issued as “international” versions to be used abroad.
