Film Description

My Fair Lady Movie Poster

“Pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject turns out to be the lovely Eliza Doolittle, who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond — one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor.”

My Fair Lady is a delight! From start to finish, the cast, the sets, the costumes, the music, the direction of George Cukor, and the story all make for an excellent movie. This is first rate entertainment, done with sytle and great attention to detail. From the outset, the movie, especially the cast, weaves an enchanting spell – one fit for youngsters of all ages. But as the story unfolds, the viewer find that there is serious material and a lesson in this story. . The movie questions our values of class, gender, love, roles in relationships, and self worth. All this is put to the wonderful music of Lerner and Lowe, and superb performances by the cast. Rex Harrison, Stanley Holloway and Wilfrid Hyde-White are the very essence of their characters. Screen icon Audrey Hepburn‘s performance seems strained at times, but this is easily overlooked by perfection in almost everything, including costumes, lighting, and set direction. Yet, for all the character’s and overall charm of this movie, you’ll find yourself questioning your values at the end of it, and find that the answer is delivered with love, in a most beguiling story set in an enchanted setting.

Some sets have a title card, which contains credits and artwork, essentially a mini-poster. The remaining seven cards are coloured photographic credits and poster artwork showing different scenes from the movie.
