A return to a good old fashioned Nic Cage ‘Gonzo’ craziness for Panos Cosmatos’ 2018 H.P. blood soaked tale of vengeance “MANDY”. Featuring one of the best images of Cage with incredible deep red and purple colour tones this original British UK Quad movie poster is incredibly hard to find with a low print run and the film receiving a very, very limited cinematic (largely art-house cinemas) release. An outstanding example of from the modern horror genre that presents and displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued). An impressive and extremely scarce  item that represents a fantastic piece of Nicolas Cage and horror film movie memorabilia.

Trivia: The chainsaw fight had to be filmed in one night which the director Panos Cosmatosdescribed as “a straight up living hell” to shoot.

Film Description

Mandy Movie Poster

“Taking place in 1983, Red is a lumberjack who lives in a secluded cabin in the woods. His artist girlfriend Mandy spends her days reading fantasy paperbacks. Then one day, she catches the eye of a crazed cult leader, who conjures a group of motorcycle-riding demons to kidnap her. Red, armed with a crossbow and custom Axe, stops at nothing to get her back, leaving a bloody, brutal pile of bodies in his wake.”

MANDY is a bizarre, surreal horror-phantasmagoria that provides no short cuts or amendes honorable; either one resists, or one gives in. A deviant cult, working with (presumably) actual demon bikers, kidnaps Andrea Riseborough, sending her beau (Nicolas Cage) on an anguished mission of blood-soaked revenge. Panos Cosmatos directs a volcano of ultra-saturated colors (reds and more reds mostly), lysergic acid-soaked celluloid, gonzo performances, extreme gore, madness and despair. At its best, hypnotic and visceral, an unforgettable vision quest like the most gorgeous of nightmares; at its worst, soporific navel-gazing to compete with the worst aspects of Nicolas Winding Refn. Obviously not for all tastes, but if the mood strikes just right, the rewards will linger long after. Numerous camera shots could easily be used as album cover art for progressive rock and/or death metal bands.

US Posters

LOBBY CARD
11 x 14″ printed on heavy stock paper. Used as display in theatre lobbies. Originally made in sets of eight. Some sets have a title card, which contains credits and artwork, essentially a mini-poster. The remaining seven cards are coloured photographic credits and poster artwork showing different scenes from the movie.

WINDOW CARD

HALF SHEET
22 x 28″ printed on heavy stock paper. The image displayed is normally a smaller version of the main poster, although some do have different artworks and sometimes come in two versions.

INSERT
14 x 36″ printed on heavy stock paper. Inserts usually have the same artwork as a one sheet. Popular with collectors since they are smaller and easier to frame. Normally come tri folded or rolled.

41 x 81″ printed on paper. These were printed on two or three separate sheets designed to overlap, few survive. Used for larger advertising spaces, normally posted on walls, perfect for huge movie theatres the drive-in, where people could see them from a distance. From the 1970’s on, three-sheets were sometimes printed in one piece and issued as “international” versions to be used abroad.
