Cool Hand Luke

Cool Hand Luke Movie Poster

“The man…and the motion picture that simply do not conform.”

A rare and impressive item from first year of release 1967 for the classic Paul Newman prison chain gang drama “Cool Hand Luke”. This stunning Italian photobusta shows Newman (dressed in prison fatigue double denim) reflected in the mirrored sunglasses of Boss Godfrey (Morgan Woodward). He never removed the sunglasses throughout nor spoke a word and became known as ‘the man with no eyes’ one of the most significant and memorable characters from the Film. It was only on this Italian photobusta that he was featured…an extreme close up with great image of Newman accompanied by chain gang artwork along the bottom border. A photobusta is an Italian version of a lobby card but much bigger (27″ x 18″), and this example is unrestored with a single fold line and presents to very good effect with perforated numbered stamp adding authenticity as this is standard on Italian photobustas. Unquestionably one of Newman’s finest roles in a motion picture that has become near legendary and (rightly so) this striking Italian photobusta represents a highly collectable piece of original and hard to come by movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Two hundred hard-boiled eggs were provided for one of the film’s most famous sequences. Due to clever editing, Paul Newman only ate about eight altogether. The rest were consumed by the cast and crew, which led to extreme cases of flatulence the next day.
