  • Barbarella Movie Poster

    Barbarella

    £325.00

“Barbarella, an astronaut from the 41st century, sets out to find and stop the evil scientist Durand Durand, whose Positronic Ray threatens to bring evil back into the galaxy.”

In arguably the most famous role of her career, Jane Fonda stars as “Barbarella” in Roger Vadim’s, campy, sci-fi fantasy. Based on the hugely popular French comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest the film is considered one of the 1960s quintessential cult movies. Its stylish and colourful comic art layout scenes are truly unique for the period, and represent a nice homage to its comic book roots. These scenes are captured to great effect in a series of eight British front of house lobby cards with Fonda featured in all, including the iconic and super sexy ray-gun in hand pose. Originally flat-unfolded (as issued) this beautiful complete set of all eight cards display to excellent effect with only minimal handling wear, vibrant, unfaded colours and an incredible selection of key scenes. An impressive set of highly collectable cinematic memorabilia for a much admired sci-fi classic that rarely turns up complete.

Trivia: Jane Fonda is filmed at times, especially during the opening spacesuit striptease sequence, in the famous French director’s “Vadim Tease” directorial style.

  • E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Movie Poster

    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

    £295.00

“He is afraid. He is totally alone. He is 3 million light years from home.”

“E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” is the film which Steven Spielberg says epitomises his career. A true classic for all ages. Spielberg chose a regular collaborator in the artist John Alvin to create the marketing poster, and it’s fair to say that he (along with design agency Intralink Film Graphic Design – taking inspiration from Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Adam’ painting which adorns the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel)  has produced one of the cinema’s classic, timeless posters, that is immediately recognisable as the finger tips of E.T. & Elliott touch to create that spark of friendship. Certainly the best example we have ever offered for sale and very hard to find in this outstanding rolled (as issued) condition and a marvellous item of truly collectable  cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Richard Attenborough later said that he felt bad that his own film, Gandhi (1982), beat this film to the Best Picture Academy Award because he considered his friend Steven Spielberg‘s film more deserving of the award and was convinced before the ceremony that it would win. Attenborough described E.T. as “a quite extraordinary piece of cinema”.

Riding the wave of success sequels to the hugely successful Captain America & Thor movies are announced as the assembled audience goes wild with anticipation…then an audible gasp, as the third film for 2014 is revealed, what ? “Guardians of the Galaxy” ? … A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. An amazing spectrum of purple and blue colours and frantic energy, it is a great looking image. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal of handling wear, absolutely stunning. Guaranteed original this represents a scarce item of modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film.

Trivia: According to James Gunn, the film’s soundtrack is composed mainly of 1970s and 1980s songs, as they are part of Quill’s memories of Earth: “The music is one of those touchstones we have to remind us that Quill is a real person from planet Earth who’s just like you and me, except that he’s in this big outer space adventure.”
