Anna Biller’s dark horror comedy was very well received, critically & commercially on its 2016 release and is regarded as a classy ‘modern’ homage to the cheesy ‘B’ movie horror films that prospered during the 1970’s. This country of origin US one-sheet movie poster is from first year of release 2016 and hugely sought after by the film’s hardcore and loyal fan base and horror fans alike. Having a a very limited release, primarily in a small number of ‘art-house’ & ‘specialist’ cinemas combined with a low key advertising campaign the movie poster that accompanied the release is truly scarce. Originally rolled (as issued) this superb unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect & represents a really exceptional piece of original ‘cult’ film movie memorabilia.

A must watch with an impressive number of film posters to match including the first year of release, 1960 Japanese B2 offered here A truly great design that emphasises the “7” with a series of all-action colour illustrations contained within its outline, off set against a beautiful light gold background. A simple yet very effective designed film poster with artwork that is unique to the Japanese release. The example offered here is presented in excellent unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays beautifully. This rarely tuns up in such high grade condition and represents a fine piece of very rare original and collectable movie memorabilia for one of the big screen’s greatest & most loved films.

    Trivia: Steve McQueen desperately wanted to act in this film but couldn’t at first because the schedule of his TV series, Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958), wouldn’t allow it. He crashed a car and while he was “out sick”, recovering from the accident he shot this film.

    Trivia: Was originally going to be ‘Mary Harron”s follow up to I Shot Andy Warhol but for some unknown reason the financiers backed out at the last minute. Around that time Harron was given a copy of the novel ‘American Psycho’ and she decided to make it her next film until she could find financiers for her Bettie Page movie. It then took almost five years to get the money for The Notorious Bettie Page. Guinevere Turner also co-wrote both this film and American Psycho (2000) with Harron.

By 2004 the cinema had already seen an influx of ‘big-budget’ super hero movies; X-Men, Spiderman, Hulk as well as a re-imagined Batman so a ‘new’ Punisher was a safe bet as the character of Frank Castle still one of the most popular creations and a corner stone of the ‘Marvel Universe’. Designed by creative arts agency Intralink Film Graphic Design this original 2004 UK quad film poster is typical of the character, dark & moody. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with impressive artwork highlighting both The Punisher (Thomas Jane) & his protagonist Howard Saint (John Travolta). It represents a fine piece of collectible ‘comic book’ cinema movie memorabilia.

    Trivia: Seeing as he had only one involvement with the creation of the original Punisher character; (changing the character from ‘The Assassin’ to ‘The Punisher’) this is one of the few movies based on a Marvel Comic in which Stan Lee does not appear.

    A Virgin Records poster from 1977 promoting punk rock band The Sex Pistols’ single “God Save the Queen”, which was included on their album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. This artwork was designed by British artist Jamie Reid, who collaborated with The Sex Pistols several times and often incorporated anarchist themes into his designs. Highly regarded as the most recognisable and memorable image of the punk era, Reid’s design features a monochromatic, defaced image of Queen Elizabeth II (from an original photograph by Peter Grugeon) with cutout letters forming the song title pasted over her eyes and mouth. Unmistakably a Tyler Stout offering, Stout has hand-signed and numbered each print (#2698/3600). A labour of love for the artist who worked on all aspects involved in bringing this to print: from design, colour combinations and even obtaining the publishing rights. The Stout had this to say about the project “I’ve found it works best to do stuff for movies you’re a fan of, movies that have stood the test of time, that are considered classics, stuff that inspires you”.
