  • Catwoman Alternative Movie Poster

    Catwoman

    £245.00

“Penguin, Joker, Riddler and Catwoman, too ! The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate !”

Released in 2014 as the third instalment of The Art of Ken Taylor through Mondo. This screenprint depiction of Julie Newmar as Catwoman is stunning and a great tribute to the Feline Femme Fatale. It captures the seduction Newmar brought to the character while conveying the light-hearted feel of the beloved 1960s Batman TV series. This is the Regular orange background edition which is hand-numbered #124 out of 275 and signed by the artist. I am a huge Batman fan (all incarnations) and this is one of my favourite Batman posters, a great fun item and a fantastict item of collectable memorabilia from an icon of modern pop culture.

Trivia: Originally planned as the pilot film for the Batman (1966) TV series, the movie was instead produced between the show’s first and second seasons. The producers took advantage of the larger budget to have a number of new Bat-gadgets constructed, such as the BatBoat.

  • Dance-of-the-Vampires-Movie-Poster

    Dance of the Vampires

    £495.00

You’ll never know what bit you… but you’ll love it !… Who says Vampires are no laughing matter ?

A very desirable and equally hard to find British UK quad film poster for Roman Polanski’s spoof comedy horror “Dance of the Vampires” (AKA The Fearless Vampire Killers). This outstanding 1967 cinema poster features beautiful artwork by the French illustrator Clement Hurel and features a design unique to the British release which is the perfect complement for this landscape format. The caricature characters of Sarah Shagal (Sharon Tate) & the evil vampire Count von Krolock (Ferdy Mayne) take centre stage offset agains the key ‘vampire ball’ scene and of course no horror movie poster (even a horror comedy) would be complete without a dripping blood red title…all framed by an eerie green slime border. It’s really not hard see why this outstanding piece has gone on to become one of the most sought after posters from the 1960’s especially when you consider the tragic events and notoriety associated with Polanski and the brutal murder of his wife, Sharon Tate (this was one of her last performances) at the hands of Charles Manson’s deluded band of followers. Presented in excellent condition this impressive poster looks and displays to great effect with minimal handling and age wear. Original, unrestored folded (as issued) condition this is a lovely example of a classic British horror/comedy with lovely deep rich unfaded colours on what is a scarce item and represents a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of extremely collectable, classic British film memorabilia.

  • Endless Summer Movie Poster

    Endless Summer

    £260.00

“The crown jewel to ten years of Bruce Brown surfing documentaries. Brown follows two young surfers around the world in search of the perfect wave, and ends up finding quite a few in addition to some colorful local characters.”

Quite possibly, the only time  surf culture was portrayed accurately in a cinematic film. Surfing aficionados consider “Endless Summer”, written, directed and filmed by Bruce Brown to be one of the best surfing-related films made, in part because of the legendary surfing cinematography sequences and the appearance of several professional surfers. Any paper from this cult movie is hugely collectable, not just because of the subject but also because of the poster imagery created for the film by artist John Van Hamersveld. A close friend of Brown’s, Hamersveld created one of the most iconic images of the 1960s, and his poster image is one of the single most recognisable movie poster images ever made. Receiving a very limited European re-release in 2016, Hamersveld’s original design was re-used and in the French ‘Grande’ offered here we have perhaps the largest official cinema poster ever created for the imagery. The day-glo colour palette really impresses, with the large format allowing the minimalist pop art design to be fully appreciated. Originally folded, the poster is presented in excellent condition and provides a beautiful example of original film movie memorabilia that represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase one of the ‘cult’ sporting posters of all-time.

Trivia: According to an article in the “L.A. Weekly”, after the film was edited, Michael Hynson and Bruce Brown toured the U.S. in a bus in the summer of 1964, screening the documentary in high school auditoriums and Lions Clubs. The film originally didn’t even have audio; Brown would play surf records and narrate the action live.

  • FANTASIA Movie Poster

    FANTASIA

    £195.00

“The ultimate in sight and sound…FANTASIA will AMAZIA !”

“FANTASIA” is without a doubt the greatest animated film in history. While highly acclaimed and well-known today, it was not terribly popular when it was first released. Disney’s idea of “FANTASIA” was to take great pieces of music and draw animated sequences that match them. In doing so, it reverses the purpose of a movie’s score; the movie serves and matches the music, not the other way around. The lack of plot really didn’t matter though as you became immersed in a sumptuous visual and audio experience, unlike anything before or since. This is a rare opportunity to obtain one of the scarce original early re-release film posters and offered here is an original UK quad movie poster from the 1961 British release. Like all Disney campaigns of the time the advertising merchandise is of the highest quality which is fully in evidence here; stunning detailed artwork (unique to the UK release) with stone-litho printing and deep rich colours that literally ‘pop’ from the paper. Truly outstanding and one that is far better appreciated in the flesh than can ever be shown in a photograph. Originally folded (as issued) this unrestored film poster presents superbly and is a fine example of rare and collectable original movie memorabilia for a much respected animated Walt Disney classic.

Trivia: This is Steven Spielberg‘s favorite animated movie of all time.

  • Frankenstein Movie Poster

    Frankenstein

    £195.00

    “Look! It’s moving. It’s alive. It’s alive… It’s alive, it’s moving, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, IT’S ALIVE!”

Artist Matthew Peak is no stranger to horror icons as it was his Freddy Krueger artwork that adorned the first Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) US One-Sheet and has now has created an award-winning “Frankenstein Monster” print for the 2018 exhibition Mondo Presents “Universal Studio Monsters”. This limited-edition example has been hand-numbered #6 from a print run of 325. In 2018, the leading and most respected alternative movie poster forum expressobeans.com made this print their “Cinema Poster of the Year”. Incredibly rare and highly collectible, an excellent example of modern cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Boris Karloffs Monster in this film does not physically resemble the character in Mary Shelley‘s novel. It was make-up artist Jack P. Pierce who came up with innovations such as the Monster’s flat head, the bolts through the neck, the droopy eyelids, and the poorly-fitted suit. Any future Frankenstein film that features any of these physical abnormalities is taking its inspiration from Pierce’s make-up work.

GOAL: The Complete Story of the World Cup 1966

    £595.00

“They think it’s all over ! … It is NOW !”

Long before social media, yes there was a time before Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc or immediate online news updates then the cinema was the go to place for up to date visual news. Unless you were one of the lucky 96,924 people who had a ticket to the England and West Germany final on 30 July 1966 or had a television (it was being shown live in black & white) then “GOAL: The Complete Story of the World Cup 1966” was the only place to see England’s historic victory over West Germany. Released in cinemas shortly after the event it was shown in vibrant glorious colour and not only featured the historic final but also match highlights and player and fan interviews from the whole tournament. If you are British and love your history then this is the greatest sports documentary ever made and you will not find a better example than this. Presented in excellent condition this originally folded (as issued) unrestored 1966 country of origin British UK quad film poster displays and presents to superb effect and represents a truly scarce, patriotic and inspiring piece of cinematic sports memorabilia.

Trivia: This film, as was common with similar newsreel-style documentaries of the period, contains no live sound whatsoever. Everything you hear consists of sound effects added in post-production, from crowd noise and traffic to every kick of the ball. Occasionally when someone on screen can be seen to shout something, gibberish approximating the mouth movements has been dubbed over.

  • Goodfellas Alternative Movie Poster

    Goodfellas

    £275.00

“As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a gangster.” — Henry Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y. 1955.”

Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” is an iconic motion picture and a giant of the gangster genre that will stand the test of time for years and years to come. The movie poster imagery that accompanied the 1990 release was equally as striking. The central imagery of the three stars (De Niro, Pesci & Liotta) was used for the worldwide advertising campaign and those three characters are featured here, staring into the trunk of the car on this 2022 alternative movie poster by Florey and Matt Ferguson in one of the most memorable scenes from the movie as they get set to bury Billy Batts in the forest. A clever and eye-catching design this originally rolled (as issued) example displays & presents to excellent effect with beautiful dark colour tones and a red brake light that pops from the paper. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by both artists with a number (#20/200) matching that hand-written on the poster. Hugely desirable and a must have title for the serious poster collector or Goodfellas fan it represents a premium piece of quality collectable movie memorabilia.

Trivia: The “How am I funny?” scene is based on something that actually happened to Joe Pesci. While working in a restaurant, a young Pesci apparently told a mobster that he was funny, a compliment that was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response. Pesci relayed the anecdote to Martin Scorsese, who decided to include it in the film. Scorsese didn’t include the scene in the shooting script, so that Pesci and Ray Liotta‘s interactions would elicit genuinely surprised reactions from the supporting cast.
