  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Movie Poster

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

    £195.00

“Not that it matters, but most of it is true… You never met a pair like Butch and The Kid.”

One of the ultimate ‘feel-good’ films (well up until the last two minutes) George Roy Hill’s “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” is much loved and rightly regarded as a true classic of the cinema. This original, super rare special ‘Wanted’ promotion poster is from 1969 and were distributed to children (and a few adults) exclusively in Odeon cinemas, in the weeks prior to the Film’s release with instructions to be placed where they can be seen in the window at home. An actor, dressed as The Sundance Kid (fully dressed up with stetson, gun and spurs) would then tour the area and hand out prizes to anyone that he saw displaying the poster. Designed to resemble a western WANTED poster with photographs of both Newman & Redford this example is offered folded and comes with full details of the promotion and additional photos printed on the back. A very rare survivor of an inspired cinema promotion and a highly collectable piece of movie memorabilia.

Trivia: According to William Goldman, his screenplay originally was titled “The Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy.” Steve McQueen and Paul Newman read the script at approximately the same time and agreed to do it, with McQueen playing The Sundance Kid. When McQueen dropped out, the names reversed in the title, as Newman was a superstar.

  • FANTASIA Movie Poster

    FANTASIA

    £195.00

“The ultimate in sight and sound…FANTASIA will AMAZIA !”

“FANTASIA” is without a doubt the greatest animated film in history. While highly acclaimed and well-known today, it was not terribly popular when it was first released. Disney’s idea of “FANTASIA” was to take great pieces of music and draw animated sequences that match them. In doing so, it reverses the purpose of a movie’s score; the movie serves and matches the music, not the other way around. The lack of plot really didn’t matter though as you became immersed in a sumptuous visual and audio experience, unlike anything before or since. This is a rare opportunity to obtain one of the scarce original early re-release film posters and offered here is an original UK quad movie poster from the 1961 British release. Like all Disney campaigns of the time the advertising merchandise is of the highest quality which is fully in evidence here; stunning detailed artwork (unique to the UK release) with stone-litho printing and deep rich colours that literally ‘pop’ from the paper. Truly outstanding and one that is far better appreciated in the flesh than can ever be shown in a photograph. Originally folded (as issued) this unrestored film poster presents superbly and is a fine example of rare and collectable original movie memorabilia for a much respected animated Walt Disney classic.

Trivia: This is Steven Spielberg‘s favorite animated movie of all time.

  • Goodfellas Alternative Movie Poster

    Goodfellas

    £275.00

“As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a gangster.” — Henry Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y. 1955.”

Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” is an iconic motion picture and a giant of the gangster genre that will stand the test of time for years and years to come. The movie poster imagery that accompanied the 1990 release was equally as striking. The central imagery of the three stars (De Niro, Pesci & Liotta) was used for the worldwide advertising campaign and those three characters are featured here, staring into the trunk of the car on this 2022 alternative movie poster by Florey and Matt Ferguson in one of the most memorable scenes from the movie as they get set to bury Billy Batts in the forest. A clever and eye-catching design this originally rolled (as issued) example displays & presents to excellent effect with beautiful dark colour tones and a red brake light that pops from the paper. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by both artists with a number (#20/200) matching that hand-written on the poster. Hugely desirable and a must have title for the serious poster collector or Goodfellas fan it represents a premium piece of quality collectable movie memorabilia.

Trivia: The “How am I funny?” scene is based on something that actually happened to Joe Pesci. While working in a restaurant, a young Pesci apparently told a mobster that he was funny, a compliment that was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response. Pesci relayed the anecdote to Martin Scorsese, who decided to include it in the film. Scorsese didn’t include the scene in the shooting script, so that Pesci and Ray Liotta‘s interactions would elicit genuinely surprised reactions from the supporting cast.
