  • AMY Movie Poster

    AMY

    £275.00

    “The girl behind the name”

When released in July “AMY” went on to break UK box office records for a documentary in its opening weekend and has since gone on to become the highest grossing British documentary film of all time. An incredible feat for a film with a very limited release & showing in only a handful of cinemas. Made by the award winning team responsible for the excellent “Senna”, “AMY” tells the heartbreaking story of the late jazz/ blues singer Amy Winehouse. The original UK quad film poster to accompany the release was designed by the creative arts agency Territory Studio, who have produced an eye catching piece.  The advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film posters that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release are truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays to excellent effect and represents a fantastic collectable item of music/ film / cultural memorabilia for a true music icon.

Trivia: Amy Winehouse‘s immediate family were initially willing to work with the film’s producers and director, having heard about the success of their earlier documentary, Senna (2010). They granted the filmmakers access to hours of archive footage of Amy and her family, as well as giving the filmmakers’ their blessing to interview Amy’s family and friends. However, they – in particular, Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse – soon began to feel they were being misrepresented in the documentary, that the negative aspects of Amy’s life were receiving much more attention than the positive, and that footage had been edited in order to produce an inaccurate narrative of Amy’s story, especially the last three years of her life. Mitch Winehouse has said that Amy’s fans should consider seeing the film for the rare, previously unseen, archive footage of his daughter, but should pay no attention to the film’s general portrayal of her, which he has labeled “preposterous”.

  • Original Highlander Movie Poster

    Highlander

    £695.00

“He fought his first battle on the Scottish Highlands in 1536. He will fight his greatest battle on the streets of New York City in 1986. His name is Connor MacLeod. He is immortal.”

Does exactly what a fantasy movie is supposed to do! It lets your imagination run away with you. The Queen soundtrack (like their earlier Flash Gordon) is fantastic. Sean Connery is of course ‘Sean Connery’ & wonderful in his part with Christopher Lambert perfectly cast as the untrained Immortal Connor MacLeod. Like many ‘cult’ films it received a lukewarm reception (& that’s being kind) on its initial release resulting in very limited availability of the merchandising used to promote it especially the film posters. Offered here is a scarce one-sheet, unrestored, original country of origin (UK) film poster for Russell Mulcahy’s 1986 fantasy adventure “Highlander”. This superb originally frolled (as issued) example has deep, vibrant colours and stunning detailed Brian Bysouth sci-fi imagery. All making for an extremely desirable investment grade condition exceptionally scarce movie poster from a hugely influential movie that spawned numerous sequels, TV series & even a cartoon…One of the coolest poster’s from 1980’s and a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia that has been hand-signed to the front and the reverse by the artist Brian Bysouth.

Trivia: Queen originally intended to record only one song for this movie, but after viewing footage from the movie, they were inspired to write more. The band members each had a favorite scene and composed songs specifically for them. Brian May wrote “Who Wants to Live Forever” during the cab ride home after seeing the movie, and Roger Taylor used the line “It’s a kind of magic” as the basis for the end title song.

Ford is the featured point of interest with action scenes and supporting characters making up the background, as the familiar various shades of orange and brown dominate the colour palette. A perfect addition to the canon. This is a classic action adventure poster from the ultimate adventure movie series that presents to excellent effect and is offered in beautiful rolled, unfolded (as issued) unrestored original condition. “It’s not a biography. It’s a senses attack”

Undoubtedly, one of the great music biography films; David Bowie as presented by Brett Morgen in “Moonage Daydream”. Technically it’s not a biography but a loud, vivid, exploration and celebration of Bowie’s life, art, and music. Director Brett Morgen talked in person with Bowie’s widow, top model Iman, for asking permission to use the material as tribute to Bowie. Although in a first moment she was reluctant to this idea, she was convinced by Morgen’s previous works Cobain: Montage of Heck (2015) and Jane (2017) about singer Kurt Cobain and scientist Jane Goodall, where Morgen used personal material from each other to create artistic collages as tribute to them, instead to use in the way to make a classic biographic documentary.
