One of the cinemas all time classic movies…Ridley Scott’s Oscar winning deep space horror “Alien”. Any paper for this film is extremely sought after with the alien ‘egg’ style, designed by creative arts agency Bemis Balkind the most recognisable. On halloween 2003 “Alien” was re-released in a remastered Director’s Cut format. Sensibly the Studio went with the original 1979 poster design and updated it by printing a small number of posters on heavy stock paper with a silver background and luminous green plastic panel (on reverse) offsetting a die-cut ‘bleeding’ edge to represent the Alien blood. The UK quad poster offered here is from this 2003 release and it displays and presents to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued). There is no fading with deep blacks/greens & stand out silver colour tone…Hugely collectable, a desirable piece of original film movie memorabilia from a truly influential movie that defined the face of modern sci-fi horror.
Trivia: Dan O’Bannon‘s original draft title was “Star Beast”, but he was never happy with this. It was only after re-reading his script that he noted how many times the word “alien” appeared, and realized that it was a perfect title. It works as a noun and an adjective, and it had never been used before.

John Landis’ “An American Werewolf in London” is one of the best werewolf movies ever made, full of dark humour and gory thrills. As most people know, this has one of the best human/werewolf transformation scenes in cinematic history. Unlike modern monster/horror movies of today, this film has no CGI or computer-aided special effects; what you see on the screen is a physical production made piece for which Rick Baker won the Oscar. This 2021 alternative movie poster by the American graphic artist Todd Alcott shows a very understated and restrained design for a horror poster as David (David Naughton), Jack (Griffin Dunne), Nurse Alex Price (Jenny Agutter) plus a number of London landmarks are represented as characters on what appears to be a beaten up paperback book cover. Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly and has been printed too look distressed. Alcott’s impressive piece of poster artwork represents a great twist on traditional horror movie memorabilia and is a great example in the rapidly expanding area of alternative movie posters. “I vote we go back to the Slaughtered Lamb”
Trivia: Rick Baker claimed to have been disappointed by the amount of time spent shooting the face changing shot for the transformation after having spent months working on the mechanism. Trivia: John Landis wrote the screenplay for this film following an incident while shooting Kelly’s Heroes (1970) (while he was a go-fer) in the countryside of Yugoslavia. While driving along a country road with a colleague, Landis encountered a gypsy funeral. The body was being buried in a massively deep grave, feet first, while wrapped in garlic so he would not rise from the dead.

This 2022 signed Artist Proof (AP) alternative movie poster by Matt Ferguson and Vice Press is a proper horror poster as David (David Naughton) and Jack (Griffin Dunne) are shown walking through the moonlit moors unaware as a pool of blood forms at their feet. Ferguson has cleverly incorporated the piercing eyes of the werewolf into the title design which is finished (as is the pool of blood) in bright red and printed with a spot ink varnish for a truly dramatic effect. Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly and is an impressive piece of horror poster artwork and is a hugely desirable alternative movie poster. “I vote we go back to the Slaughtered Lamb”

“Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas”
Sam Raimi’s “Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3” is not as rooted in the horror genre as its predecessors – although it has its horrific elements, it seems to be first and foremost a dark fantasy comedy – with lots of one-liners and slapstick and gore. It’s kind of a delirious combination of horror, comedy, fantasy, action, and adventure, but it’s definitely the horror element that comes across in this 2017 alternative movie poster from Graham Humphreys. The medieval dead and undead never looked scarier and are out in full force as the hero from the previous two instalments – Ash (Bruce Campbell) cuts a worried looking figure. Originally rolled (as issued) the example offered here is truly exceptional; This limited edition it has been signed by Humphreys and hand-numbered #48/100 and displays and presents to excellent effect with amazing imagery and deep, rich colours. The horror ‘fan-boy’ love for Sam Raimi & Bruce Campbell is well deserved with related memorabilia much sought after, making this a hugely collectable piece.

The poster campaign for Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 psychological thriller “Black Swan” was really quite exceptional, with awards for many of the designs. This creepy version by Empire Design was one of those winners and it really is stunning…disturbing, yet still fantastic close up image of the “Black Swan” Natalie Portman as her face cracks like a china doll.. Originally rolled this rare example displays very well and makes for a great piece of artwork…A film unmatched in recent years for award winning poster designs with each one special in their own right and highly collectable.

This outstanding set of ALL four (4) posters is indeed a magnificent find. This complete set is the ultra rare promotional series of four (4) UK / British one sheet posters, given exclusively to Studio executives and VIP’s. There are very few in existence. Trivia: When shooting Black Swan, Natalie Portman sustained many injuries, which caused delays to the production. The most common injury was her left toe, which had to be restrapped while the cast and crew waited. This kind of delay was so frequent it was called a “Natalie Portman’s Left Toe Delay” which was later shortened to…Portmantoe.
