    “Ghost in the Shell” sees Scarlett Johansson star as Major Mira Killian, saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier in the American 2017 adaption of Shirow Masamune’s  cult Japanese manga creation and anime movie. A colourful and action packed cyber-punk offering from director Rupert Sanders that is very much mirrored in the design of the original British UK quad film poster by creative arts agency LA offered here. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect. Guaranteed original this represents a scarce item of modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film.

    Trivia: In an establishing shot of the city, a Pan Am advert can be seen in the top left. The bankrupt airlines inclusion is a reference to Blade Runner (1982) which also had an in-film advert for them.

    It’s not often I get a poster in that makes me go WOW ! especially a recent offering. Well this original 2024 UK quad for Wes Ball’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is such a poster. The franchise, from its original 1968 beginnings through to the Matt Reeves reboots is a personal favourite of mine and this poster is truly one of the best I have ever seen. The composition, detailed, intricate design by creative arts agency LA & Ten30 Studios is superb. The colours are stunning, deep & unfaded. The “Planet of the Apes” premise is considered one of the pivotal sci-fi movies series’ ever made and this is a worthy addition to the canon that represents a magnificent piece of film poster art.

    Trivia: The first Planet of the Apes film to be filmed for IMAX.

    Based upon Rob Bottin’s iconic ‘robo’ suit design Paul Mann produced the perfect alternative movie poster to complement his graphics. A truly striking image for Paul Verhoeven’s ultra violent sci-fi masterpiece “Robocop” that is perfectly suited to the portrait format of this edition. Robocop is offset against a colourful background of supporting characters and action imagery, that are made to stand out when placed in front of the black background. It gives a depth that gives an almost 3D effect to the colour imagery. Printed by Mad Duck in 2022 this limited edition art print is hand-numbered #47 from a print run of 200. This excellent example presents and displays near perfectly and represents a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia from one of the defining movies of the 80’s. The ‘original’ & BEST, “Robocop” is fondly remembered and spawned a popular TV show, two sequels and was recently remade as a ‘big budget’ CGI sci-fi actioner…“I’d buy that for a dollar !”

    Trivia: The repeated line “I’d buy that for a dollar!” comes from Cyril M. Kornbluth‘s short story “The Marching Morons”, which presents a similarly cynical view of an over-commercialized future that’s desensitized to violence and war. A radio game show in that short story uses the line “I’d buy that for a quarter.” as its signature phrase.

    Sci-fi movies can rarely be made in such way that can be looked at as works of art. This is one of the few exceptions. The prediction of judgment day with Hamilton watching a playground full of kids be burnt to the ground is an absolute brilliant portrayal of Armageddon. The theme that men will destroy themselves is also shown throughout the movie also and is even said by The Terminator…“It’s in your nature to destroy yourselves”. This brings the movie to a whole new level of sci-fi and one of the most sought after of titles by collectors of the genre and Schwarzenegger’s vast legion of fans. Offered here is a scarce large format Japanese B1 movie poster (equivalent to a standard one-sheet) for James Cameron’s sci-fi, time travel, shoot ’em up uber-actioner “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”. This example is often referred to as the ‘Smoke’ version featuring Schwarzenegger’s Terminator emerging from the smoke. In a design that’s unique to Japan the largely black and white imagery features Arnie’s eyes finished in a blazing red, leaving you in no doubt he is a Terminator. One of the most influential film of the past 25+ years with ground breaking CGI special effects and spectacular action set pieces. A very hard film poster to find in this fine unrestored rolled (as issued) condition that represents an impressive and stylish item of original cinematic movie memorabilia.

    Trivia: Given Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s US $15 million salary, and his total of seven hundred words of dialogue, he was paid $21,429 per word. “Hasta la vista, baby” cost $85,716.

Featuring Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger wielding his laser sighted handgun from the famous ‘Tech Noir’ disco scene. Originally flat/unfolded this displays to excellent effect and would make for a fantastic addition to any collection or as a one-off display piece.     Released by the artist Tyler Stout as a private commission in 2020 and only available to order for one day (24th September) this seven-colour screen print looks spectacular. Unmistakably a Tyler Stout offering, Stout has hand-signed and numbered each print (#2698/3600). A labour of love for the artist who worked on all aspects involved in bringing this to print: from design, colour combinations and even obtaining the publishing rights. The Stout had this to say about the project “I’ve found it works best to do stuff for movies you’re a fan of, movies that have stood the test of time, that are considered classics, stuff that inspires you”. A stunning and stylish alternative movie poster for a film that launched the Hollywood careers of James Cameron & of course Arnie, in his most defining role that represents highly collectable movie memorabilia for one of cinema’s greatest movies and a cultural phenomenon.

    Trivia: Arnold Schwarzenegger originally wanted to play Kyle Reese. But James Cameron had a different idea and saw Schwarzenegger in the title role of The Terminator and Cameron said to Schwarzenegger, “This movie is not about the hero. It’s about The Terminator.”

Unrestored and presented in original folded (as issued) condition this superb example presents & displays to impressive effect. An incredibly rare example of a personal favourite film & movie poster that represents an incredible chance to own a corner stone piece of hugely collectable original movie memorabilia; highly recommended.

    Trivia: The original time machine was sold at the MGM studio auction in 1971, the same auction that originally sold the Ruby Slippers (see trivia for The Wizard of Oz (1939)). The winner of the auction was the owner of a traveling show. Five years later the prop was found in a thrift store in Orange, CA. Film historian Bob Burns purchased it for $1,000. Using blueprints his friend George Pal had given him years earlier, he and a crew of friends restored it. The restoration crew included D.C. Fontana script consultant and writer on Star Trek (1966) and Michael Minor art director on Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (1982).
