A return to fun and adventure for Steven Spielberg’s 1989 sequel “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”. This original advance ‘He’s back in an all new adventure. Memorial Day 1989’ US one-sheet movie poster features the artwork of Drew Struzan, who has perfectly captured the likenesses of the lead character – Indiana Jones as played by Harrison Ford. Originally rolled, as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to fine effect being presented in totally unrestored condition and represents a fantastic piece of original movie memorabilia for an incredibly popular and well loved series of films.
Trivia: Sir Sean Connery was always Steven Spielberg‘s first choice to play Indiana Jones’ father, as an inside joke to say that James Bond is the father of Indiana Jones. If that had failed, Gregory Peck and Jon Pertwee were back-up choices for the role. Spielberg had always wanted to do a Bond movie, but did Indiana Jones as a James Bond-type character. In keeping with the James Bond theme, the movie has many Bond movie co-stars: John Rhys-Davies, Alison Doody, Julian Glover, Stefan Kalipha, Pat Roach, Eugene Lipinski, Michael Byrne, and Vernon Dobtcheff.

Darker and more serious in tone and content than its predecessor. Spiros Angelikas’ cleverly designed ‘Trust Him’ taglined poster certainly reinforces that aspect for Steven Spielberg’s 1984 prequel / sequel “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. This original country of origin Advance teaser US one-sheet movie poster highlights the titular archaeologist hero bathed in a red (blood red ?) light surrounded by a dark black embossed patterned border. Originally rolled, as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to excellent effect being presented in totally unrestored high grade condition. Often seen as the ‘weakest’ of the franchise (not so in my book) this is considerably rarer than posters from the other films and is genuinely hard to find in this format and represents a fantastic piece of scarce original movie memorabilia for an incredibly popular and well loved series of films.
Trivia: While filming the whipping scene, the crew played a practical joke on Harrison Ford. While he was chained to a large stone, Barbra Streisand appeared, dressed in a leather dominatrix outfit. She proceeded to whip him, saying “That’s for Hanover Street (1979), the worst movie I ever saw.” She continued whipping him for Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), and making all of that money. Carrie Fisher then threw herself in front of Ford to protect him, and Irvin Kershner chided director Steven Spielberg. “Is this how you run your movies ?” This entire sequence was filmed.

“Agents, Villains and The Babes”
Commissioned in 1998 as one of a series of poster designs intended to promote the James Bond Exhibition held at the Roemer – Und Pelizaeus – Museum, Hildesheim Germany. Titled “Agents, Villains and The Babes” the stunning 007 artwork by regular Bond poster artist Robert McGinnis, features a highly detailed all-action montage from Bond’s previous adventures. However the border artwork is made up of beautiful, largely naked or scantily clad women which after consultation with the Museum Board was considered too risqué to use in publicising the Exhibition so only a small number of the initial print run were all that was printed. The example offered here is from this first print run and should not be confused with the later Limited Edition lithograph issued by McGinnis himself which has the censored artwork which was also used for the cover of the Sunday Times November 7th 1999 edition (photo for reference). Originally flat and unfolded (as issued) this amazing example displays and presents to excellent effect. “The name’s Bond … James Bond”
Issued in 1998 as one of a series of poster designs to promote the James Bond Exhibition held at the Roemer – Und Pelizaeus – Museum, Hildesheim Germany. The striking imagery by Johann Zambryski features an abstract pop-art rendition of Sean Connery and is the rarest of the designs with only 50 being printed and exclusively issued to Museum Staff and never offered for sale to the general public. At the time of its release in 1979 this “Star Wars” inspired Bond movie (“For Your Eyes Only” was originally slated to be released after “The Spy Who Loved Me”, but the huge success of “Star Wars” called for a rethink) was the largest grossing 007 movie to date. Beautiful detailed Daniel Gouzee artwork was the highlight of the worldwide “Moonraker” campaign and this original 1979 Japanese B2 film poster really does look impressive. The Japanese text certainly adds an air of sophistication and coolness to the design. Featuring a suave Roger Moore in a shiny silver space suit; a rarity on any Bond poster campaign as he was normally illustrated wearing a ‘trademark’ black tuxedo…Presented in a high grade, rolled (as issued) condition this unrestored example displays and presents to excellent effect with colours that are bright and unfaded. Hugely desirable and very collectable, it would be a worthy addition to any collection of James Bond movie memorabilia and is an impressive 007 film poster from the Roger Moore run in the series.
Trivia: Producer Albert R. Broccoli complained that Maurice Binder‘s title sequence cost more than the entire budget of Dr. No (1962).

After an extremely successful advertising campaign on “SKYFALL” & “SPECTRE” Empire Design have been retained by EON for the latest Bond spectacular “No Time To Die” & it’s fair to say they have hit the target again. This original “Coming Soon” Advance country of origin British UK quad for Cary Joji Fukunaga‘s Bond film has a real 007 feel to it, with Bond (Daniel Craig) and Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) presented in black and white close up behind the bullet ridden glass of the Aston Martin DB5. These “Coming Soon” advance posters are much scarcer than the first ‘April’ advance posters and printed in far lower numbers due to the uncertainty of the release due to Covid 19. These were officially released then within days the movie was postponed until November 2020 (now April 2021). Extremely sought after and collectable, not only because they look fantastic with a design that’s a real difference from the normal Daniel Craig Bond posters, but were printed in such low numbers. A magnificent alternative movie poster for Lewis Gilbert’s 1977 James Bond extravaganza…“The Spy Who Loved Me”…Cubby Broccoli wanted this to be “BIGGEST Bond of All” and it certainly lived up to the billing, utilising the massive purpose built 007 soundstage at Pinewood Studios, still very much in use today. The action-packed artwork by artist Alfons Kiefer features all the classic imagery you’d expect to see in a Bond film, 007 dressed in a tuxedo, exotic location, gadgets, psychotic villains and beautiful, glamorous women – Barbara Bach who played the Russian super spy Anya Amasova (Agent XXX) and Caroline Munro (the helicopter pilot Naomi). This thirteen-colour screenprint is presented on Fedrigoni Materica Gesso paper and is hand-numbered #34/85. This amazing limited edition art print represents a fine piece of very collectable James Bond movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The closing credits say, “James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only (1981)” but, because of the successes of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), the space set Moonraker (1979) was chosen.

An outstanding alternative movie poster by the maestro of British horror art, Graham Humphreys for John Carpenter’s horror, sci-fi classic “The Thing”. This superb limited edition example is incredibly rare in any edition and to offer an Artist Proof example (this is hand-numbered #10/10) is indeed a bonus. Antarctic Alien terror never looked better than this, thanks to Humphreys’ stunning imagery, MacReady (Kurt Russell) and the Thing illustrations are perfectly realised, with beautiful colour tones. Released in 2023 as an exclusive Private Commission, this immediately sold out when launched. Originally rolled, flat-unfolded (as issued) the example offered displays to exceptional effect and represents a truly outstanding and extremely desirable item of collectable movie memorabilia with a ‘modern’ twist…“Did you notice anything strange about the dog that arrived yesterday? Anything at all?”
Trivia: Unused music composed for this film was later used by Ennio Morricone in Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight (2015). Ironically, Morricone’s Thing score was nominated for a Razzie for worst score, while his score for Hateful Eight won him an Oscar.

Trivia: The Joker’s make-up is very similar to John Wayne Gacy‘s, a serial killer who would often entertain children while dressed as Pogo the Clown. This make-up style was shunned by working clowns at the time, as they strictly prohibit “sharp” ends in their make-up, as it scares children.
