    The second part of Francis Ford Coppola’s Epic and violent Gangster Trilogy “The Godfather: Part II”, follows the reign of ‘new’ Don, Michael Corleone as the head of the Corleone family. The film shows us the early years of Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) played flawlessly by Academy Award Winner Robert De Niro, and how he created his empire of money, gambling and respect. Beautifully directed by Francis Ford Coppola, it exceeds every expectation with outstanding performances from Academy Award winners Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall and Robert De Niro. One of the finest films ever made, making this US, country of origin one-sheet from first year of release, 1974 highly desirable. Originally folded (as issued), the poster has been conservation linen backed with fold lines touched out and now presents to excellent effect that represents a truly outstanding item of original film movie memorabilia.

    Trivia: Hyman Roth’s character is loosely based on real-life mobster Meyer Lansky. Lansky, who at the time of the film’s release was living in Miami, reportedly phoned Lee Strasberg and said, “Now, why couldn’t you have made me more sympathetic ? After all, I am a grandfather.”

    Francis Ford Coppola’s multi Oscar winning masterpiece “The Godfather” is THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE with this limited edition art print by the artist Paul Mann, the best ever poster produced for this crime classic. Mann’s artwork and use of colour is breath taking, and this needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate the quality. Printed onto Platinum Etching Paper with a giclee finish it appears painted. A private commission with a print run of only 150 this has been hand-numbered #41. This example displays to excellent effect and is an outstanding example of an alternative movie poster for a film, that is a phenomenon. An exquisite Mafia epic with outstanding performances, Coppola got everything right, creating a cinematic event with an immeasurable influence on everyday culture and life.

    Trivia: The smack that Vito gives Johnny Fontane was not in the script. Marlon Brando improvised the smack and Al Martinos confused reaction was real. According to James Caan, “Martino didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

A must watch with an impressive number of film posters to match including the first year of release, 1960 Japanese B2 offered here A truly great design that emphasises the “7” with a series of all-action colour illustrations contained within its outline, off set against a beautiful light gold background. A simple yet very effective designed film poster with artwork that is unique to the Japanese release. The example offered here is presented in excellent unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays beautifully. This rarely tuns up in such high grade condition and represents a fine piece of very rare original and collectable movie memorabilia for one of the big screen’s greatest & most loved films.

    Trivia: Steve McQueen desperately wanted to act in this film but couldn’t at first because the schedule of his TV series, Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958), wouldn’t allow it. He crashed a car and while he was “out sick”, recovering from the accident he shot this film.
