One of the great silent films, Georg Wilhelm Pabst’s “Pandora’s Box” is renowned for its sensational storyline, sparkling Weimar-period setting and the legendary, lead performance from its iconic star Louise Brooks who is featured prominently on the poster imagery. As a general rule BFI re-release posters are incredibly scarce due to limited print runs and distribution, being shown in literally a handful of independent and ‘art-house’ cinemas with the updated imagery often superior to many of the original release designs. The rolled (as issued) UK quad offered here is from the 2020 digital restoration BFI release and displays to excellent effect with beautiful imagery and design; lovely bright bold colours. A fantastic looking item and a fine piece of cinema memorabilia for a true classic of the silent era.
Trivia: Despite being replaced by Louise Brooks at the last minute for the role of Lulu in Pandora’s Box (1929), Marlene Dietrich managed to snag another coveted role. Her removal from “Pandora’s Box” freed her up to play one of her most iconic roles, Lola Lola in Josef von Sternberg‘s The Blue Angel (1930).

One of the best films of the 1980’s and certainly one of Schwarzenegger’s finest roles, “Predator“ is a film I’ve seen more times than I care to remember. Directed by John McTiernan, who would go on to helm “Die Hard” the following year (arguably the greatest action movie ever made), the film is an excellent mix of gung-ho action and sci-fi horror with a truly iconic monster (designed by Stan Winston). The rare and original Japanese B2 film poster offered here is the ‘Cast’ style from first year of release 1987 with ‘Dutch’ (Schwarzenegger) prominent and a photo montage of the other leading actors in a design that is unique to Japan. Considered a classic by Arnie’s legion of fans & collectors of the action / sci fi genre it is incredibly scarce in this format. Originally rolled (as issued) this beautiful unrestored example displays and presents to excellent effect…Sought after and extremely hard to find in this high grade condition it represents a fine piece of very collectable Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action movie memorabilia.

Jonathan Demme’s “The Silence of the Lambs” is one of the best horror thriller movies ever made; excellent Award winning performances, full of dark humour and gory thrills. This original pair of 1991 British double crowns features a design by Marcus Silversides commissioned by the design agency BLT Communications which really is two clever and visually stunning pieces of complementing artwork with an amazing use of colour (white and pale colour tones for Clarice and deep, blood red for Lecter) and imagery featuring skull adorned winged moths over both Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter) and Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) leading characters’ mouths. Presented in very good condition these rolled (as issued) examples display superbly and represent fine pieces of original cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: When Sir Anthony Hopkins found out that he was cast as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, based on his performance as Dr. Frederick Treves in The Elephant Man (1980), he questioned director Jonathan Demme, and said “But Dr. Treves was a good man”, to which Demme replied “So is Lecter, he is a good man too. Just trapped in an insane mind.”

Printed on Mirri Rainbow Foil art paper, Matt Ferguson’s artwork for this Vice Press 2023 release for “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” is truly impressive. Literally changing colour depending on the light and viewing angle with imagery depicting key scenes from the movie and of course, center-stage the iconic USS Enterprise. The Japanese typeface adds an air of the exotic and adds to the overall appeal in what is a fitting visual tribute for the first big screen cinematic outing for Captain Kirk & the crew of the starship Enterprise. Released as a limited edition of 175 this has been hand-numbered #28 that displays superbly and represents a fine piece of artwork and a very collectable alternative poster movie from Gene Roddenberry’s much loved TV and Movie series.
Trivia: William Shatner, (Captain Kirk) who saw the completed movie for the first time at the world premiere, was struck by the overall sluggishness of the movie, and was convinced that the Star Trek franchise died there and then. He reminisced, “Well, that’s it. We gave it our best shot, it wasn’t good, and it will never happen again.” But, having recalled his reaction fifteen years later, he has added, “Shows you what I know.”

An extraordinary and surreal masterpiece from Neil Jordan, “The Company of Wolves” is an allegory that examines the journey from innocence to adulthood in an adult re-telling of the much loved fairytale “Little Red Riding Hood”. Certainly a strange story; the mix of sexual symbolism, poetic beauty and gory horror moments seems a bit forced at times – but when it does work it’s utterly fascinating and you can see it has become such a cult film of the genre and well respected by fans of both horror and quality film making. Offered here is a rare 1984 first release country of origin UK quad film poster for this British film featuring an intricate design by Red Ranch with beautiful detailed border artwork by Alan Lee with the storybook illustration attributed to Andy Seymour. A critical and commercial success and perhaps the best British movie (gangster or otherwise) ever made…John MacKenzie’s “The Long Good Friday”. Receiving a very limited release in UK cinemas (it was nearly never released due to financial problems & only saved as a cinematic production by George Harrison, with his Handmade Films stepping in at the 11th hour) meant that any paper is scarce, making this original 1980 UK quad film poster a rare find especially in such high grade condition. Featuring stark black & white country unique design & artwork this excellent unrestored example presents near perfectly. An outstanding modern example of a true British classic. An original 2023 Country of Origin British UK quad film poster for Robin Hardy’s cult horror masterpiece “The Wicker Man”. One of the most sought after titles of the horror genre. Completely new and re-imagined artwork was commissioned for the 50th Anniversary release of the movie featuring pagan dancers and only a glimpse of the sacrificial ‘wicker man’. Dubbed the ‘Final Cut’ the sound and print quality have been remastered to satiate the demands of the modern movie goer . Totally original and unrestored this rolled (as issued) poster displays and presents to excellent effect that due to the very limited cinematic screenings represents a super rare & sought item of authentic country of origin British horror movie memorabilia…“Come…It is time to keep your appointment with the Wicker Man.”
Trivia: Many years after making this movie, Edward Woodward re-visited some of the locations and claimed that he found the makeshift cross (that Howie makes out of some pieces of wood) still intact where it was left in the original scene.

Long before social media, yes there was a time before Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc or immediate online news updates then the cinema and TV was the go to place to see the Mexico 1970 Football World Cup Tournament “The World at Their Feet”. With a limited number of matches being shown on terrestrial TV (only 3 channels in the UK) it was down to the cinema to show the edited highlights of what has been dubbed ‘the greatest of all the World Cups’. Released in cinemas shortly after the event (with a subtle backstory involving a young fan) it was shown in vibrant glorious colour and not only featured the historic final which Brazil won 4-1 but also match highlights and player and fan interviews from the whole tournament. If you are football fan and love your international tournaments then this is the greatest sports documentary ever made and you will not find a better example than this. Fantastic graphics and clever design and presented in very good condition this originally folded (as issued) unrestored 1970 British UK quad film poster displays and presents to excellent effect and represents a truly scarce and nostalgic piece of cinematic football memorabilia.

“Till Death Us Do Part” was an early entry which began a trend of British TV sitcoms to make it to the big screen and the magnificent colourful ‘Union Jack” artwork on this original 1968 UK quad film poster provides a great and memorable starting off point. It really is a fantastic looking eye catching poster with a naked Alf (Warren Mitchell aping a famous John Lennon pose of the time) capturing the very essence of the hugely succesful TV series. Originally folded (as issued) this fine example displays and presents very well with only minimal handling & age wear… A huge and loving fanbase exists for this classic British comedy and this original film poster certainly brings back plenty of happy nostalgic memories…British TV comedy at it’s finest and an excellent piece of original collectable patriotic movie memorabilia.

An exceptionally rare Indian Three-Sheet from 1969 (the first year of release in India) for Brian G. Hutton’s action packed World War II thriller “Where Eagles Dare” features artwork by C. Mohan based on the original design by Frank McCarthy. The cable car scene is one of the best remembered and most famous scenes from the film and all of the elements are the same, from Eastwood on the cable car to the Castle of The Eagle engulfed in flames in the background. Fans of Bollywood will know at least one of C. Mohan’s pieces as he designed the title for “Sholay”, which is widely considered the greatest Bollywood movie of all time. One of the most collected British action adventure war films ever produced, with the originally folded (as issued) example offered here being presented conservation linen-backed – it displays to excellent with colours that pop, thanks to the stone litho printing process. Of all the action / adventure films I deal with there is no doubt that “Where Eagles Dare” appears to have an incredible fan base and this superb poster represents a fine piece of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The driving force behind this movie was Richard Burton‘s stepson, who wanted to see his stepfather in a good old-fashioned adventure movie. Burton approached producer Elliott Kastner for ideas, who asked Alistair MacLean. At that time, most of MacLean’s novels had either been made into movies, or were in the process of being filmed. Kastner persuaded MacLean to write a new story. Six weeks later, MacLean delivered the script.
