    Guardians of the Galaxy

    £175.00

    “All Heroes Start Somewhere !”

Hall H, Comicon 2012 and Marvel Studios is again breaking box-office records, this time with the super hero blockbuster “The Avengers”. Riding the wave of success sequels to the hugely successful Captain America & Thor movies are announced as the assembled audience goes wild with anticipation…then an audible gasp, as the third film for 2014 is revealed, what ? “Guardians of the Galaxy” ? … A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. Because of the ‘risk’ factor the advertising budget was not as extravagant as the studios previous offerings, making paper from the film genuinely a lot a scarcer than Iron Man, Thor, Avengers etc. Hence the rarity for any of the film posters produced to accompany the release. Based on photographs by Michael Mueller, design agency BLT Communications certainly pushed the right buttons and created a stunning all-action, epic poster for this 2014 one-sheet. An amazing spectrum of purple and blue colours and frantic energy, it is a great looking image. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal of handling wear, absolutely stunning. Guaranteed original this represents a scarce item of modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film.

Trivia: According to James Gunn, the film’s soundtrack is composed mainly of 1970s and 1980s songs, as they are part of Quill’s memories of Earth: “The music is one of those touchstones we have to remind us that Quill is a real person from planet Earth who’s just like you and me, except that he’s in this big outer space adventure.”

Trivia: The sensor that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) looks at when detecting the extra-dimensional creature during the opening of the movie is a modified 1977 Mattel handheld “Electronic Football” video game. Selling over one million units, this was one of the hottest items of Christmas 1977. The beep at the beginning is the “touchdown” sound, whilst the other beeps are the sound of the ball moving down the field.

  • Original Highlander Movie Poster

    Highlander

    £695.00

“He fought his first battle on the Scottish Highlands in 1536. He will fight his greatest battle on the streets of New York City in 1986. His name is Connor MacLeod. He is immortal.”

Does exactly what a fantasy movie is supposed to do! It lets your imagination run away with you. The Queen soundtrack (like their earlier Flash Gordon) is fantastic. Sean Connery is of course ‘Sean Connery’ & wonderful in his part with Christopher Lambert perfectly cast as the untrained Immortal Connor MacLeod. Like many ‘cult’ films it received a lukewarm reception (& that’s being kind) on its initial release resulting in very limited availability of the merchandising used to promote it especially the film posters. Offered here is a scarce one-sheet, unrestored, original country of origin (UK) film poster for Russell Mulcahy’s 1986 fantasy adventure “Highlander”. This superb originally frolled (as issued) example has deep, vibrant colours and stunning detailed Brian Bysouth sci-fi imagery. All making for an extremely desirable investment grade condition exceptionally scarce movie poster from a hugely influential movie that spawned numerous sequels, TV series & even a cartoon…One of the coolest poster’s from 1980’s and a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia that has been hand-signed to the front and the reverse by the artist Brian Bysouth.

Trivia: Queen originally intended to record only one song for this movie, but after viewing footage from the movie, they were inspired to write more. The band members each had a favorite scene and composed songs specifically for them. Brian May wrote “Who Wants to Live Forever” during the cab ride home after seeing the movie, and Roger Taylor used the line “It’s a kind of magic” as the basis for the end title song.

  • Hot Fuzz Movie Poster

    Hot Fuzz

    £125.00

“They’re bad boys. They’re die hards. They’re lethal weapons. They are… Hot Fuzz.”

Original 2007 one-sheet movie poster for the Pegg/Frost/Wright collaboration “Hot Fuzz”. A poster that is genuinely scarce due to limited cinema release and like the makers’ previous collaboration “Shaun of the Dead” it has very quickly gained a cult following. “Hot Fuzz” satirises American action films in a way that an American satire would not. Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg don’t simply spoof the plot threads and the car chases. They know the smaller details of Hollywood’s formula, as they exemplify with its continuous references to the scene in Point Break where Keanu Reeves fires his gun into the sky in anger and the scene in Bad Boys II where Martin Lawrence, in a circling tracking shot, says, “S*** just got real.” Not only do they tackle those less clear characteristics of Hollywood, they also perfectly portray people who talk about awesome scenes in action movies, hilariously by Nick Frost. Eye catching design by Creative Partnership of Pegg & Frost this excellent rolled example displays superbly and represents a super example of classic British cinema memorabilia.

Trivia: As this is the second part of the Cornetto Trilogy, the blue wrapper makes its appearance in the film. Nick and Danny are seen eating vanilla flavor ice cream. According to Edgar Wright, blue represents the police, which is the main motif in the film. For Wright’s other films, Shaun of the Dead (2004), it was red and strawberry flavor, representing blood and zombies, while the final part, The World’s End (2013), it was green and peppermint with chip, representing science fiction and extraterrestrial elements.

    In Like Flint

    £275.00

    “FLINT’S BACK In Action…In Danger…In the Virgin Islands…Where the Bad Guys…Are Girls !”

A very cool, stylish film poster from the mid 1960’s that perfectly typifies the period and the style of the artist; Bob Peak. A beautiful UK quad film poster for Gordon Douglas’ 1967 super-spy, James Bond parody sequel “In Like Flint”. This really is a fantastic looking poster ‘of the time’ – focusing on the star; James Coburn in his role as the super suave secret agent Derek Flint with colourful ‘swinging sixties’ stylised artwork. Peak’s similar film posters (“Modesty Blaise”, “Gambit”, “Our Man Flint” share this common style and concentrate on the stars all colourfully delineated then offset against a pale background. It is a style that works well and certainly impresses. Because of the white background (which marks easily & highlights the slightest defect) this poster is hard to find in high grade condition. The originally folded (as issued) unrestored example offered here has some very minimal handling & age wear but colours are bright and unfaded and the background a true bright white with no shading/ghosting to the fold lines. A fine investment grade piece that represents a very collectable piece of desirable original movie memorabilia.
