Comments: The draw of Basic Instinct is its over-the-top style, the way the story forges ahead with gleeful abandon. Sure, much of the dialogue is downright ridiculous, and more than a few plot points make little or no sense, but somehow this doesn't take away from the film's suspense or overall appeal. Rather, it adds to it — Basic Instinct is widely regarded as an expertly crafted guilty pleasure.
